So is the C8 the beginning of the end of the glue smell?

Always thought that was the "new car smell"? Personally, I've never had the pleasure of buying a brand new car.

My Corvette was absolutely no different from and of my wifes Audis or BMWs. Leave the windows down when possible for the first few weeks and all is good.
Saying the new car smell is a GM/Corvette issue is absurd.

I think it smells like any other new car with the added feature the smell lasts longer so you don't have to buy New Car Scented air fresheners as soon.

Lot of internet sh*t talkers here and really not worth my time to reply back! Regardless, if you don't think it has it's own peculiar odor or if you like the smell then fine! However, there have been numerous threads about this issue in Corvette Forums and other publications. There is nothing wrong with trying to improve the Corvette in all aspects (not just performance) and it's a very good thing GM listens and is always trying to improve the Corvette!

I don't get the adhesive smell...I think. Unless I don't know what it smells like. When I jump in my car, I smell leather and victory. The OP seems a bit outnumbered on this... and a cursory search did not reveal any complaints of adhesive smell.

Nope I haven't detected any smell and as many folks that I've had sit in the car no one has ever made a negative comment about the smell of the interior. Four years later and I still get that scent which I love. To each his/her own opinion but the OP didn't get much support and seems to need some anger management. Call it what you want and we're all for improvement, but I believe enough as been said.

I think OP is referencing some threads from early in the C7 run posted IIRC in C7 Gen. And there were threads of folks complaining about this issue. Seems the complaints that surfaced early in the run waned over time. Perhaps GM changed its recipe for the adhesives, or application methods? I dunno. But, there were early complaints that largely went away.

…..and I thought I was getting high from the glorious sounds of the LT4. Seriously the smell was terrible with my '04 year model year '05 C6 Z51, better with the 07 Z and pretty much non existent with my '17 Z. To me it smells like a new car scent. When people get in the car they comment on how the car still smells new.

My C7 Z06 was bad not as bad as my Lotus Evora GT which smelled so bad I could not drive the car without getting a headache. I was on the phone with Lotus engineers for a few months, eventually they changed out their epoxy that held certain body panels together. My garage smelled so bad that my other cars stunk and everything in it took on the epoxy body shop smell. As long as the new ME has fiberglass and some composite materials and stinky epoxy, I think we could still have some problems. If you ever noticed a film on the inside of your windows that is from the epoxies, plastics giving off fumes especially when it’s hot out.
Good news if we have this problem I have a way to help lessen it if not almost eliminat it. I posted it many years ago on many of my car sites. Very handy when storing cars in the garage or getting rid of Oders. I always add these packets inside the interior. Not sure I can post the link but here is one version sold on a web site that is taking over the retail world, the company starts with AMAZ end with ON. They have lava rock versions that took 8 bags and 2 months to fix the Lotus. It absorbs oders instead of masking them.
This item 4-Pack 200g Naturally Activated Bamboo Charcoal Air Freshener Deodorizer Odor Neutralizer Bags, Unscented Air Freshener, Car Freshener, Moisture Absorber, 100% Chemical-Free Odor Eliminator.

now that IS scary...!!! ive never really been too sensitive to the glue/adhesive type smells... but a "film" on glass is very scary!!

I’ve always called that the new car smell, unless you guys are talking about something else. I actually make sure I close the windows when it’s in the garage so I can preserve that smell as long as possible.

I agree. It is not a good smell but it does wear off in most C7s after a little while and IMO it is a small price to pay for body corrosion protection. That is a feature that is often overlooked in general about Corvettes but it is a biggie to those of us living in the rust belt who want to drive our cars more than a few months a year.
