The idea that what could be a world class sportscar should be significantly compromised for what must be a fraction of a percent of its intended usage is absurd.
You can not be all things to all people and trying to would be a huge design error. I don't think it'll happen.
Every April, the National Corvette Museum puts on a three/four day Corvette educational/fun event, to present the new year’s new Corvette model (or next generation). GM participates fully, providing their top Corvette staff. GM Corvette staff make presentations on the new model, technical presentations on what is new/different, walkarounds of the next Corvette, and bring 50+ (often 80) of their top Corvette staff to be there to answer our questions — including for us to have 1-to-1 conversations with.
So important to me, that annually we drive from the PNW to attend. I am expecting record BASH attendance next year becasse of yet-unknown (LOL) upcoming next Corvette.

I think the two golf bags thing is pretty old by now. Not saying folks don't put golf bags in their vettes but I suspect the 1% rule is pretty close to the actual usage. For me, I want enough luggage space for 3 people (me and the wife takes 2 ) for a 4-6 day trip.
My 2013 Boxster has that much room, don't see why GM can''t do the same.

We just got used to shipping our stuff.
We did 2 weeks out West including Ron Fellows. We took enough in the car to get us out there, shipped the rest. Got done with our trip, boxed it up and FedEx'd it home leaving just enough in the car to get back home.
We did this because we wanted to drive with the top off at much as possible.
Well... I asked because I needed to know. The answer I got was very pleasing in relation to storage space. I asked someone who has become a friend over the last couple of years and knows everything there is to know about the ME car if in 2 or 3 years I could still buy a front-engine rear-wheel-drive Corvette because I don't want to lose my storage space it's not what I want out of my Corvette and the answer I got was pretty gloomy sounds like it's going to be negative Which flies in the face of everything I was told prior.
but I was told Flatout straight to my face not to worry about storage space it will be a non-issue and I was very skeptical it was then elaborated that you could fit two golf bags in the new car and you're going to be very happy at which point I advised this person I was going to The Bash this year and they confirmed by saying you're going to love the batch this year that's all I can say.

He really didn’t reveal anything new,it’s very logical.
Pricepoint,performance and practicality (cargo capacity)are core corvette prerequisites,And always have been on the entry models.

Will the buyer get both a car that is sleek AND capable of going on a trip for two without sending clothing ahead? Can both be accomplished in one car? We will see, right?

There’s every reason to believe the future Mid engine corvette buyer will get a sleek car ,and the ability to carry cargo very close to the C7 coupe.
I don’t expect an exposed engine,And from what I read from the leaked CAD’s,the engine sits lower then
a conventional mid engine.Hence wouldn’t be surprised to see 14 cubic feet behind the seats,and under the hatch.

The appeal of the Corvette has been it's versatility, not it being a world class supercar.
While certain models of the Corvette have strived to reach supercar status, the vast majority of people did not purchases their Corvette for that reason.
I bet more people use the 15 cu ft cargo room in their Corvette to haul "stuff"(like enough clothes, etc for a two week road trip) then those that drive at 10/10 on a race track and haul nothing in the cargo area while on the track..

They haven’t made an ugly corvette in 7 generations,
Im sure they’ll sacrifice a cubit foot or two if they have to to ensure it remains beautiful .We shouldn’t be worried .
Their biggest design challenge is gonna be foregoing the long hood.

What is the thing that is only a fraction of a percent of its actual usage? My guess is that actual road course performance is used far less than the storage space in a typical Corvette. Most owners treat them like a GT. Of course, going to Mid Engine you could make an argument that this dynamic should shift to performance and track feel. But most mid-engine cars are trophies rather than driven on the track frequently. That is certainly the case with Ferraris.
Glad this thread has continued to develop into a wishlist and critique moment.
I would like to explain that the person who spoke with me and referenced the two golf bags was doing so for the purpose of explaining cargo capacity which was my concern.
This right here is as important to me as running circles around most other cars on the road. I want my cake amd to eat it too. I found that answer to be soothing as my biggest concern is losing the practicality that corvette has been for 65 years.. i mean its worked so far. And if this car turned into one where it wasn't fun to drive and throw some luggage in for a week getaway? I wouldn't own it. I think that porsche, like Chevy, has kept space for getaways in their design (hatch for a c7 and fake rear seat space in the 911) because they know it sways many to keep coming back.
