Default C8 Production start Date End of C7 FE Production

Just out from Corvette Blogger. Will be interesting to see what happens to the value of C7 Z06/ZR1 FE after the C8 comes out and they are no longer making FE corvettes, or manual transmission's. Kinda of sad in my mind.

Values cut in half maybe. Dealers arent going to give big money for trade ins, trust me. This will drive values wayyyyy down.

I have kinda been holding out hope on a two car lineup even though I just cant see it making sense. That being said if the C7 ZR1 is the last and pinnacle of front engine Corvette maybe value there years down the road.

I posted this back in July when this video was released, I watch autoline daily. I mentioned they usually don’t post something unless they have their facts in line. They are very connected to Detroit.

Autoline says the source is http://www.autoforecastsolutions.com/

This video was another confirmation for me that the new ME is the C8 and the C7 was fading away. I wavered when I kept being told the ZR1 needs to be produced for 3 years.

If you have a C7 with a manual you will be fine on depreciation as the ME will only offer a DCT.

Base cars will take the immediate hit. Z06/07 next. The ZR1 is a different animal but at well over a 100k and the ME base price at 60k trading might not be a viable option for many C7 owners. Dealers will want to move the C7s.

I'm hoping all this happens so I can finally get a C7 at a price I can afford.

When I heard that dealers received notice from GM that ZR1 production would end next March, I thought that sounded the death knell for the C7. I see no reason to continue to build a lesser priced C7 (Stingray, GS, Z06) to compete with the new ME, which, IMHO, is the C8. If anything, building ONLY the ZR1 for another year or two made more sense to me. It's the ubervette, and would not compete, price wise, with the entry level C8. So......I think the approximately 18 month production run of the 2019 is the final year for the C7.

As far as C7 values, it's the last (and best) of the FE Corvettes, so I don't think the bottom is suddenly going to drop out on them. There will be some major discounts on remaining ones after the C8 starts rolling off the line, but the C7 will still offer more than just about any other car in its relative price range will always remain a desirable vehicle.

If this story comes to fruition, my current 2016 Laguna Blue C7 Z06 M7; my dream car; will be my last Corvette, especially since I'm 64 and retired. I'm just not a fan of the Mid Engine, DCT transmission Corvette. I had been thinking of trading my car for a 2019 Elkhart Lake Blue ZR1 M7, but that's probably not happening now, as they will not be discounting them and will be very hard to get before they stop making them in Aug. 2019.

i would think that is emotional choice at this time since the car has not been seen or released yet. I am a big manual guy but also a big ME fan since the visibility and ease of driving a DCT/ME is very compelling to me. LB Z06 M7 is a very nice set up, I miss my 15 Z06 sold her for Audi R8 gated manual another great car.

I suspect that this may be an accurate forecast which saddens me. The front engine Corvette is a great car for touring and I'm puzzled that they're trying to make a street legal race car like the ford GT which from all road tests is really a lousy car for ordinary drivers who like to take long road trips. I never liked the busy styling of the C7 and I'd like to see a heavily face lifted C7 continue but I suspect that's wishful thinking. C7 sales are down and I'm also puzzled that dealers don't order more base models which are really well equipped. And after all, you're buying a sports car, not a luxo barge. Dealers only order loaded Corvettes for inventory with stickers north of 70k when it's possible to get one that stickers for around 60. I like convertibles and I found a new convertible on Kerbeck's website for $54,500. Sticker was around 62.

Definitely - seeing them being sold way under original cost now never mind when they release a C8

I have been saying this right along - that the introduction of the ME car will be the end for the FE car. Having said that, I will be hanging on to my C7 for at least a couple more years to see how the ME car works out. I figure about three years in I'll be a buyer. We'll see.

Not so sure about that... All depends on C8 MSRP, how it looks, performs, reliability and the biggie, if the ME appears to belong on a track rather then on your driveway as a fun daily driver... I think once the initial euphoria wanes (may take a few years or more) the clean lines of the daily driving C7 Stingray, especially fully loaded Z51's may do better overall then Z06's and its look alike GS. Young track fans will have little interest in high powered FE's but daily drivers will.. Overall, I think C7's will be fine in time, IMO, the C7 is the best looking vette ever and the big reason sales are currently slow can be attributed to blind anticipation of the ME.. Some folks actually may not like the ME as much as the older FE..

When the ME debuts with a sticker around $100K, we'll see if the market price of the C7 tanks. Why would GM bring out a halo super car to drive away 25,000 to 30,000 buyers annually???

I base my estimate on the cost of the new ME on the 'rumored' content of the car. There is absolutely no way they can put all the stuff everyone is speculating that it will have in a $60K package...… unless, like my Ferrari, you have over $100K of factory options available to pick from.

With respect to ZR1 values, like the C4 and C6 generations, they will tank. I'm guessing that will happen sooner rather than later.

For all you 3 pedal folks out there, now is the time to get a very lightly used C6 ZR1 for something in the $50K range. Here in Texas the trade in value is in the $40's for really clean ZR1's with under 20K miles.

The plan has been to have Porsche like options for the next generation C8. From all I been reading and hearing the new ME pricing will follow the same trajectory as C6 to C7 to C8. I think the new ZR1 will do okay until the ME ZR version comes out 3 years from now. In the end the C7 ZR1 could be the last highest power FE corvette GM has ever built. I am in North Dallas and your correct many bargains on C6 heck even C7 Z and GS. Time will tell on the ME prices

a corvette is not a ferrari. it is mass produced and the base model WILL NOT BE INTRODUCED WITH A DOHC ENGINE. it will be introduced with a 2 valve per cylinder pushrod driven valve train, a frame construction that is modeled after the c7, and mass production type assembly. the price will be a lot closer to 60k than 100k. you will get your 100k car, but it won't be the base model. imo.

If it turns out to be true production won't start for another year, this C8 Forum started WAY too early.
