Doesn't mean anything as that mule is built using a C7 passenger compartment(cowl, windshield, roof, A pillars etc)and the doors are off the C7.

oh..didnt know that.. do you think the huge side vents they found necessary to cool? cause they dont look cool.. from the front... seems Ferrari figured it out with the 458 and the 488's are very small in comparison...

Not really. The waistline of the road car is much higher, higher hood, etc. It is the difference between beautiful and clumsy/ugly!

The rear end is almost a duplicate of the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE Extreme package..... same diffuser, same exhausts same tail light position/ look.

Wish I had a photo to post for comparison.

The Camaro has a higher fixed wing.

Not doing anything for me yet, but it took awhile for the C7 to grow on me. It'll be interesting to see what the finished product looks like.

I’m hoping for the best, but at this point it looks very much like a generic mid engine car design that you see in auto collision body shop ads.

We'll have to be patient , but from from the German videos I see nothing crazy or over the top to get that excited about.

That was funny. My good friend always says he decides what sports cars not to own by his local pizza shops. If he sees a sign strapped on top of the sports car (PIZZA DELIVERY) he says he won't buy it. Unless its Beverly Hills you won't see it on a Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren.

Default Class leading design does not mean "cartoonish"

Who is suggesting it should? The C8.R, the C3 and the C7 are all more articulate, integrated, designs than that cartoon.

Default 2D Pictures are Deceiving

i think a lot of folks are reacting to the known issues with the wrap camoflage and the impacts of 2D imaging on depth perception and NOT the car. The car is significantly flatter and wider than it looks in isolation. look at pics where a Silverado or GM Surburban is in the background. The top of the C8 roof is lower than a Silverado window sill. The proportions sre all very similar to the Ferrari 458 / 488 - major dimensions are probably within a couple inches.

Wait until you see it in the flesh before you firm up your impressions. Everything you guys are commenting on is based on no depth perception - which is absent in these shots, especially with the leopard skin camouflage.

WRT the Ford GT, it is just too over the top - way too busy and it looks like cockroach in profile. Not a proper sports car shape - or a great race car shape either. Sports racers are designed for low drag and high dowforce and physics makes them all look alike and NOT like the Ford. Examples: Porsche 919 EVO, Cadillac/Dallara DPi, Oreca LMP2. All teardrops mounted on flat skateboards with a central vertical fin for high speed directional stabilty. Not a freaking poser "flying buttress" among them !

Porsche 919 Evo

Cadillac / Dallara DPi

Oreca LMP2

My initial thought was "kit car" and on the heels of that thought came "looks like it costs $60k-ish". I predicted GM would introduce FE C8 at later date and ME being top shelf Zora with TT DOHC FPC V8 however at this point it appears not to be the case.

It is important to remember that this is the base version and will absolutely be the most plain version of the C8. The Z06 model will likely be much more aggressive. With that said, the high beltline, lame back end and high front bumper wont just go away with the performance model. Those are the biggest design issues for me right now. I think the front end is actually the most egregious to me so far. It seems to point upwards and is at odds with the rest of the design. I'm not sure if this is something to do with safety and crash regulations or not, but certainly seems odd.

I agree with every point. And they add up to my larger point: The deal is done. It is what it is. The basic proportions are set in stone: Chunky. Busy. Not sleek. Not integrated.

Agree. Mark Reuss has reportedly said recently that the LAST C7 front engine Corvette will be built at the end of August 2019, and the first mid-engine C8 Corvette for public sale will be built in September 2019. There apparently will only be one MY2020 Corvette - the C8 mid-engine. The front engine car will probably never return.

I was looking at this yesterday and was going to post my theory but didn't feel like getting beat on.
I think everything we are seeing on the new camouflaged C8 from the doors back is fake.
If you look at this picture it just doesn't look right and looks like a piece that is just folded over and bolted on the car.
especially at the bottom.

My other thought is if that panel is not fake there is a visible seam here where I put the yellow line. I still don't think there will be that triangular piece on the door.

Earlier shots don't show anything on the door

edit: you can see the seam a bit better here.

So you are thinking the side scoop is further back similar to the picture Lambo?

I agree with fasttoys! I think it will look like the C8.R. I believe the C8 we are seeing here has a BUNCH of fake panels still, not to mention the Camo covering up everything. Be patient people, this car is going to look KILLER! I promise!
