Man, when you post it up against those 2 cars, it really looks like dog meat. Here's hoping it looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay sexier once it's fully done.

Safety Car
I got excited when I saw the top pic in the first post because I thought that was a different variant of the C8 that they brought to the 'Ring. Then I saw the Aventador label under it and the pic of the actual C8....damn, talk about a buzzkill.

So far I’m liking what i see of the ME vette, I’m sure it will look great once the camo is off, but the fact is both lambos destroy it in looks, the shape on both of them are just so more asthetic.

Unfortunately GM is compromising rather than going all out to give is a C8 that is pure sports car and not a sports car with GT cargo capacity.
Too bad I was hoping to see an all out effort with no compromises being made and performance being the number 1, 2 , and 3 major goals.

Looks closer to the Huracan to me, which is a good thing. The Aventador is huge and personally not nearly as good looking as the Huracan IMHO.

Lamborghini clients don't demand cargo space for 2 set of golf clubs or luggage space for 2 week trips.

If they’re were 25000-30000 potential clients like yourself they would build the exact car you seem to want. Not to mention you have no issue paying more.
GM would jump all over that offer,it seems more lucrative .
Only thing missing in the equation is the 25000-30000
buyers.

I liked it until you posted it between two killer Lambos.

My original hope was that GM keeps build in the C7.5 and keeps the entry level pricing close to where it stands today.
Then move up market with the C8 mid engine super car.
Unfortunately I think that the accounting department will win out on most major design and build decisions.
I still will be a buyer as I love Corvette and I am sure it will be a hell of a great car for the money.
I just wish I could say it will be a hell of a great car without any other description attached.
I for one think it will be stunning and hopefully will be equipped with a modern DOHC and DCT .
I will be ordering the nicest available option in a spyder in white with red interior the day GM order bank open.
Have had a deposit in for well over a year and am 1st in line at my Chevrolet dealership.
I am positive it will be a stunning car when all the wraps come off!

An iconic brand like Corvette is a very very valuable thing. It is fun perhaps to dream about GM turning it into a 911 Turbo S or Huracan type car. But to do so would be throwing away 29,500+ of the 30,000 C7 customers.
I worked for an internet company that was involved with (one of) Ford's web sites. Accidentally a site update was proposed that would change the font for the M in Mustang that would appear on the site. An army of Ford marketing folks and lawyers exploded onto the scene to explain in passionate terms how the font used for the M in Mustang was iconic and valuable and under no circumstances would a different font be used. In fact, no font was used. An image of the word Mustang was used instead so that marketing could careful inspect and approve of the font, color, and appearance. They didn't care about Taurus or many of the other brands but oh boy did they care about Mustang. Can you imagine if instead of the Ford GT they had decided to cancel Mustang as we know it and produce the GT under the Mustang name? It would never ever happen.
People are bemoaning that the Lambos look killer and the Corvette ME is "hideous". But to me it looks (as someone said) like a C7 where the cabin was slid forward to account for the ME design. That's exactly what we all should have expected. Corvette is the obtainable American sports car that punches way above its weight class. I don't expect anything less from the ME variant. Again--I don't mean to crush your dreams but if GM is going to produce a Aventador-smashing hyper car it is unlikely to be called a Corvette. And it is next to impossible that it would be the only Corvette.
