Default Why no active aero?

The C8 looks fantastic and it's a game-changer for Chevrolet. I'm a little disappointed that the test variants we're seeing aren't sporting active aero rear spoilers, like the European competitors. Is Chevy holding out that option for the Z-variants of the car (Z-06, ZR-1) or did they decide it was cost prohibitive?

Yes, Chevy is holding out, that's is not the final car.

We are only seeing the 2020 entry level/Z51 ME. We need to wait for active aero until the Z06/ZR1/Zora versions.

I also think it depends on what price point the C8 comes in at... including the Z06/ZR1 variants. You don't "need" active aero to build a world class car but it has to factor into price/cost.

Cost is a factor for the base car. The car needs to reach a certain price target to sell in the volume needed. You may see it on the higher end models when they come out.

You might see some on the $100k plus z06 or gs models. The base cars wont see it if there is any.
remember this is just a corvette not a lambo or ferrari. Its a 60k car with a motor behind the seats.

There could be some active aero built in that is not apparent from the 'fixed' appearance of the aerodynamics. Look at how the ALA system on the Huracan Performante and Aventador SV Jota appear on those cars and how they function. Look at how the side slip control and the DRS work on the 488 GTB and Pista. There can be hidden baffles, foils, and passages that are electronically controlled. I'm not saying there are active aero features on the C8, but that there could be and they not be readily visible.
