Removable roof panel/ ‘Vert
I was just thinking about the removable roof panel on coupes, vs the folding top on ‘Verts.
If the ME ‘Vert has a folding solid roof and “flying buttresses”, and the coupe has the usual removable roof panel, what is the big difference between the two? Will it be worth the cost difference? Might the coupe not have a removable roof panel?

You know, I thought of that. But, I think there will be a significant difference in cost. And a small difference in overall experience.

Cost will be more, that's a given. I will say on experience, my dads vert with the top down is better than my coupe with the top out. At speed his is more enjoyable with less wind turbulence getting caught up in that hatch area. Also it does feel more open.

Proper sports cars aren't convertibles, sorry. They add too much weight and have less frame rigidity/stiffness.
Plus, a targa roof gives you all the benefits of a convertible without those drawbacks.

My prediction is they will make you choose between having a coupe with removable roof as we know it. and you get a visible engine under glass.
The other choice is a hardtop convertible no visible engine.
Of course a 5 K convertible charge would be added.

Here is another one! I knew the car existed but not THIS. A thing of beauty. Might not fit in the C8 but then who knows!

Vert or not?
I’ve had both convertible and coupe (C5 and C7), I opted for the coupe C7 as a result. Yes, the convertible offers more of an open air experience, but only when the top is actually down. When the top is up it’s a closed in feeling, IMO. The coupe with removable roof panel (glass in my case) is a better all around open car experience for me.

I hope there is some sort of open roof. I was always a vert guy. Still love them. Never had a targa before. The targa is no comparison to the wide open feeling of a vert. That being said I am really enjoying the translucent roof on my C7. It makes my vette feel less claustrophobic.

A clear roofed hardtop vert is a little over the top to wish for. I don't think anyone makes one.

I dont think they'll be a removable roof on the C8 coupe.

I really like the transparent roof of the targa. Plus the added future maintaince in the folding hardtop is a negative...
i laugh as i roll into my sixties soon lifting off the roof etc makes me feel alive and young...
i know it sounds nuts but i enjoy taking it off and putting it on...
in the end the cost differential should be 7500 dollars so itll boil down to which one looks better...
