Default I'm Sure It's Going to be Beautiful BUT!! How Can I Trust GM When I Read This??

REALITY CHECK TIME! I mean come on, The A8 has been out almost FIVE YEARS and GM still cant get this transmission right or make it right to the people that purchased these turds? How can GM expect me to purchase an all new C8 when they can't get a transmission to behave properly after 5 years? Embarrassing and ridiculous.
I have lost all confidence in GM after reading this. All we get are lies, and smoke and mirrors from the chief engineer.
Granted nothing is perfect but at least have some integrity as a Company and right your wrongs, I honestly don't think I can buy a C8 as much as I would like one because of this "care less" attitude by GM on these issues.

Unfortunately, I would have to agree with you. The A8 proved to be junk. There were many more failures than reported on this Forum. That and the fact that there will be no manual wraps it up for me. I don't care how great it looks. The driving fun factor is what motivates me to purchase. I'll trade my C6 ZRI for a wide body C7 down the road. Manual, of course.

What does this have to do with the C8? I have not seen even a hint that the A8 is going is this car. Basically what's being implied is GM cant get anything right so it will be a POS. Having owned cars from a dozen or more brands the GM products I had in that mix have been no worse than the others.

all that being said, I will wait for the second year car. Lol

As mentioned, every car has it's design flaws.

Porsche had IMS bearing issues (due to a stupid design flaw) which caused engines to blow up, and that was for an entire generation (996 era- pretty recent).

It's not about the transmission but about how the company that sells you the transmission handles problems associated with it's products. The same GM didn't handle the C6 Z06 LS7's exhaust valve problem any better than they are handling the A8 problems today.

I hear what you are saying, I just have had no such issues. The only issue a GM product i had owned that was major was taken care of, i didn't even own the car any longer. Bought a first year 2010 Equinox, took a job with a car so sold it to my wife's sister. Anyway it apparently had an oil burning issue, engine was replaced under warranty. They had no issue as the dealer brought it to their attention on a routine service visit.

Like I said, I'll wait till a second year car, hope it just has a NA LT1, would prefer a manual but a DTC will do if that's the option and I'll go from there.

It seems to me that there a few members who have had nothing good to say about the C8. Even if everything was perfect about the C8, I doubt they would buy one.

I think it went all the way until 2007, I had an 02 and man did I ever walk on pins and needles driving that thing. I never had a major issue and it was a fun car, but it got north of 80k and the black cloud of the IMS won.

I currently have a 17' GTI with DSG and that thing is acting up and making some very unnatural noises with 43k on the odd. A good old American slush box sounds appealing to me at this point. lol

My family had always been GM and I purchased my first new car from GM(1964 Malibu SS 327, 4 speed, posi. etc) and then a 396 in 1965 and then an Olds 442 in 1966, and a Caprice in 1968, and a Vega in 1970 and so on.
My GM cars have been hit or miss from 1964 through today, with the oil burning Vega that GM really screwed us owners over with their "secret warranty" on the engine.

Now days, other than the Corvette, I won't buy another GM product. Too many other choices in the marketplace. Even with a new generation Corvette, I'll wait several years to see how it turns out. My 1998 C5 had many, many problems(good thing I purchased a extended warranty). I waited until the 2009 Z06 was released(3 years) before buying. It has been an excellent car(but I was proactive and installed aftermarket heads at my expense when the exhaust valve problem came to light).

To be fai the GM products I have had were years late in the run, 88 Fiero gt, 91 Formula, 93 Grand Prix GPX, never had a bit of issue with any of those. The one first year GM I had was the Equinox and it had an enginr replace, but the company was behind it. The brand I have had most issues with was ford, and took a long while to get done too. F150 needed a CD changer relaced it took a week and a half. Had a Taurus as a company car, hit a piece of truck tire on the freeway and it hit part of the water tank for the winshield wipers, they had the car for three weeks.

BTW, still have the OLDS 442? Loved that car as a kid!
