Any color you like?
I think it would be a great idea to be able to have an option to get your C8 painted any color you want to. I remember reading that the new plant is much more capable in the paint department and hearing someone mention this idea before(maybe a GM employee). What do you guys think? And what would be a fair price? I'd drop $1,000 to get a unique color more to my taste.

I don't think there is any way you are going to see something like that on a volume vehicle like the Vette. Not possible to keep the line moving and cater to individual car paint requirements.

It would even be nice if they offered maybe six or so “Paint To Sample” colors each year, with them changing every year. They could charge a smallish premium and paint the like color orders in batches, and offer more unique selections in this PTS palette.

Since a custom color on a Porsche 911 is $11,500 and on a Lamborgini it starts at $20,000 - I couldn't see GM doing it for less than $5,000, and it would probably be $10,000. $995, which is $5 less than your $1,000 gets you nothing more than the premium paints: Yellow, Orange & Long beach Red, so a trues custom color would have to be far more expensive than that.

Today if people get bored of their car color they just wrap it. Custom color if pricing is reasonable would be cool, Just wondering how that affects production.
All I want is a charcoal grey with machined wheels and red brake calipers for my ME. Similar in color to my C7 Z51 would be nice or even shark grey like my Z06. Not sure why GM retired the color on my C7 Z51, I can’t even remember the name of it. I wanted to get my Z in the same color but Shark Grey was the replacement for 2015 Z.

agree Jerri...10k for a custom color... this would be of great benefit for chevy...as the easiest time to paint a car is when new and perfect body.. to repaint a new car off the lot and get it perfect. .. could be 15 plus... if they could do it for 5k.. be a smoking deal for the buyer...and very cool

$10 to 15K would be my guess then you'd have the hassle if you ever needed to have repairs done. I agree with the earlier post.... just have it wrapped!
In the mean time, I'll be driving around in my Torch Red one.....

Ferrari used to have a program where you could supply a sample, and Ferrari would paint your car to that sample, in 1995 this costs $5000 and would be about double today.
Add $5000 for a second color. Add $2000 for a stripe in color of your choosing.
Also note: Cars that were so painted took and extra 6 weeks to arrive.

I'd love it if GM did something similar for the Vette.

Audi offers custom colors (and interior trim) through their Exclusive program. It's not "any" color you want, but it's a much bigger list than the standard offerings.
https://www.audiusa.com/technology/d...Audi-exclusive
It's available on the S and RS cars. Cost varies by model. They're going to charge more for an R8 than an S3 just because they can. I think the cost was 5-8k for a mid range model like the S5.
Mercedes has a similar program, and I'm pretty sure BMW does too.

I confirmed by talking with BGA’s Body Shop Manager, Chuck Philippi, at the NCM BASH this spring that the new paint shop does not have the capacity to paint more than 12 total colors. When I pressed him a touch further as to when we will see the expansion from ten to twelve total Corvette colors, then specifically asked, “Chuck might that be in 2020,” his response was that “going to twelve colors would probably occur at some point in the future — but that time has not yet been determined.”
Good response Chuck, that you answered in such a manner to keep your job (we understand and respect that non-response), but I had to try...

If we were to go to twelve, hat would mean that we not only get two “replacement colors,” but two new ones in addition.
