From Car and Driver's lightning lap test:

But seriously, making this a C8 topic if the C7 ZR1 can do that what will the C8 ZR1 do?

Also noted their 911 RSR race car, the engine is pushed forward even more. To the point it is referred to as mid engine car.

Nobody needs these cars, they are a want, a luxury item...a toy. A lap time imo wont sway brand loyalty people like what they like.

Melting Slicks
Randy is a real pro, that is true, but he has prejudices of his own and likes certain types of cars better than others. Anyone would. I think it would be better to have several pro drivers of different persuasions drive each car rather than any one driver. For example, if a driver is a Porsche guy who loves rear engine cars, he simply not going to be particularly happy with front engine cars and so forth.

Also, a rear ME car for homologation purposes will enable Corvette Racing to race the rear mid engine car. I’m sure Corvette Racing will love the new hardware.

Safety Car
This thread could just as easily be re-titled "Who needs a manual transmission?" 83% of those cars are mid/rear engine, while only the GT3 is possibly a manual. It is also the slowest.
