Is GM staging C8 photo ops?
Just wondering if GM is intentionally staging the C8 test runs at the Ring to keep media and enthusiasts interest in the ME. We saw a lot of media coverage of the C8.R and the mules but it seemed like it was all concentrated at the beginning of September. Do you think there will be another significant “reveal” coming soon or will GM keep the lid and camo on everything until it’s eventually unveiled to the public next year?
Any thoughts?

Yes, especially noticeable when we saw the first video from the Ring. There were several camera positions around the track, all shooting similar quality footage with similar quality audio. That *had* to be prearranged, not a real "leak".
The EXIF data for the still shots identified Stefan Baldauf of SB-Medien, a well-known spy shooter, as the photographer (or at least one of his cameras anyway) but the timing and positioning was awfully convenient, so there was probably some advance notification there.
I would expect some more "leaks" perhaps still in camo but with fewer decoy pieces underneath to so the details aren't disguised quite as much.

Not only are they staging this, they are manipulating the photos and the actors in the photos. The frontal views of the ME's all have the front interior views into the scoops "Photoshopped black" so as to obscure view into the scoop. It's artificially black compared to any other shadowing in or around the cars. The windshield is "Photoshopped frosted" to obscure views into the interior that might show what's behind the drivers. They are blurring the faces and identities of the drivers and engineers (Who has a vested interest in doing that??) All this crap is staged, and there is clearly a contractual "embargo" in place with these photographers, as well as most of these magazines as well!

As for the rest, I suspect the faces and plates are blurred out just to give the shots that "oooo, spy shot!" excitement.

Absolutely they are. You can tell because there are a ton of up close pictures but no real video. If a true fan found the vette in the wild, I am sure they would get tons of video and shots of the interior and whatnot...

Corvette gets more free advertisement than any other brand. GM loves to give the mags something to drool over and they love it because it sells magazines and hits on the internet. They're going to milk this for all it's worth. I don't blame them one bit. Look at how we just lap it up on this forum, myself included.

Amusingly enough, the only shot I've seem where the faces weren't blurred out was the one showing the mule with a trail of some fluid leaking out underneath. Maybe a hard landing jarred a fitting loose?

No they are not, no reason for teasers when you have current product to sell

All "spy photos" are purposely exposed by GM
