Thoughts on 2019 Detroit Auto Show C8 release ???
Is there any information on the release date? In the past the 2019 Detroit Auto Show has been mentioned, is there any later speculation on when and where the release might be?

In January, at NAIAS in mid winter.

Detroit, January, NAIAS...and not LA, though I would much rather make the trip to LA than Detroit in January!

The cat is out of the bag, folks. They are not hiding it anymore despite the lack of conversation about it. Evidence is Nurburgring. It was front and center for weeks. I, for one, am most comfortable and assured that it will be released and soon.

LA would only make sense if the C8 is all electric, and so far there is no evidence it is even a mild hybrid.
From a timing perspective only NAIAS in Detroit makes sense - maybe GM will want to fly under the Radar and unveil it at the St. Louis auto show two weeks after Detroit or Buffalo on February 7th?

I am posistive GM would want to FLY UNDER THE RADAR with the most significant debut of a new passenger car in decades.
GM will do the revel at whatever venue allows for the most press and most prestigious auto event in North America.

If that were accurate, oh no, we will have to wait until April 17th for the New York Auto Show. We all hope NOT!

An April 17th debut would mean the C8 would most certainly be a 2021 model.

I am confirm that based on what is known right now, the mid engine will be sold as a 2020 model Corvette, with production starting the end of next summer.
The reason I used the words “based on what is known right now,” is that the ME is still going through its rigorous testing and validation process — a process that will be on going for several more months, and just like the ZR1 was supposed to originally be a 2018 model (be the 65th Anniversary Corvette), somethings learned during its testing, all which were later fixed, postponed its release until a 2019 model.

Huh?
Southern California is the CENTER of American sporting car culture.
However, GM will probably do the traditional thing and unveil it in Detroit.

I find it funny GM had so much trouble with the ZR1.
Hell, the car is only a slightly modified Z06...and an underachiever at that.

The C7 was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in mid-Jan 2013, I saw it in person in fall 2013 and drove one in Feb 2014 so seems likely the C8 will be officially revealed in Detroit Jan 2019 and all auto shows after that.

I look at it from the complete opposite perspective, one of kudos for GM for finding during ZR1 development’s testing, some things on the ZR1 that needed further development, and then fixed them.
If they similarly during testing of the 2020 mid engine were to find some issues, as a future owner I would much prefer for the Corvette team to find and fix them during its development process — even if that means that I/others get our ME’s later than we would wish. Hell, we have had to wait for literally 59 years now for the Corvette ME.
I have had my deposit on the ME down since Feb 1, 2015. I will wait a little longer IF/AS necessary for no other car within its price range interests me.

It's good to know they learned their lesson of the C7 Z06.
Agreed.
Soooo angling to get the first one in town, eh?

I just want to be the first person to drive the ME across the entire country, documenting that is has more than enough storage room for a cross-country trip. Before we leave the east coast, my wife and I will display our 7 each, different-colored shirts, then posting pictures of different shirts each day on the trip, posting them on the other ME forum, so finally the paranoia over the ME’s lack of storage space finally would be put to sleep.

Living in SoCal, I'd love to see it without having to wait another full year. SoCal is one of the few places with $200,000 cars available for sale at multiple dealers within 30 minute drive. I even have a great picture of a Chiron parked next to my Vette at work. There's car money around here in buckets.
I see no reason they can't show the car in LA, but with various stats withheld until subsequent shows. Once they show the cars without camo wraps they can proceed with testing with a slightly smaller entourage. I've heard various sources say LA, but that doesn't make them credible. It also doesn't mean that someone will not change their mind in the months since the LA statements were made.
We should know more when the manufacturer presentations are announced for the LA and Detroit shows.
