Now this is interesting, have not seen the pictures before that have a scoop at the bottom of the door below the door accent line.
All ll the ones I have seen before stop at that accent line.
Or is someone just playing with me?
I placed this split in the intake because I was directed by features that are partially exposed in the spy shots. The bottom hole is for the brakes placed above a shelf, the top is for intercooler and gearbox and diff rads which exhausts into a very low pressure area behind the car which negates a huge entry. The intercooler is a heat exchanger which has it's own liquid coolant separate to the engine coolant. There is a larger shelf here where the flow begins behind the headlap and over the hood/fender. The one behind the side glass is for engine intake. The side intake is in keeping with Corvette tradition. I hope that big ugly thing will not be included but expect a huge difference in air management between the 500 and 800 hp cars.. The hood outlet is for the main coolant radiator which will also induce some downforce. It may be absent on the cheap version. The front/side intakes are for engine oil which exit into the front wheel wells. There is a huge difference in heat extraction methods between, air, oil and coolant. A science all it's own. All this heated air must be separated from cold air required for the different aerodynamics required for lift/drag.
I would like to see the wheel wells and wheels higher, like Corvette has had since the C4 and like the C8R from which the second render is derived. This stance is escentual for a cool look.

I used photoshop to lighten up the sun glare so the hood vents are more visible. I hope this helps better than that screen shot I took earlier from a video in Europe. It was mentioned GM showed hood vent pictures at the dealer meeting. Which look like a Lotus vent. But exactly which one? Also I think the renders look better with the front quarter panel vent.
At least this rendering has some nicely proportioned side scoops that compliment the lines of the car. Not like the outrageously big and fake angular scoops on the test cars.
Funny how everyone thinks the side scoop is ugly. Well if you don't like it, don't buy the damn car. I love the fact that it has an angle in the middle, makes it look very aggressive and different than literally every other car that has a rounded scoop.
The scoops are the best part of the car thus far. More cowbell scoop!
A concern for sure until we know more...but the C8 is hardly alone in this feature. Some part of the door has to be sticking out the furthest. It does seem "thin" from our perspective but it may be reinforced. May be a seperate piece... we don't know. We can only hope...and I feel GM has done its homework and tested t, that it will not be damaged any more than any other part of the door. Maybe they will offer special "door edge" insurance ? ! ; ) It is, I am sure, as strong as the bottom corner edge of the c7 door. If that hits something, does it break off easily.? Note the thickness (black area) just under the outer lip. Maybe elastomer? I think it just looks way more delicate than we are used to. Don't open the door too close to anything on a windy day !
Danm, that Audi rear is sweet. Nice design. Love those tail lights.
If you study the above camo’ed and vinyl door this odd door/inlet detail is still possible.

Really love the lower silhouette. Seems it give it better proportions and sleeker look. This is by far my favorite pic of all the C8 renderings so far. I’d buy one of these in a heartbeat.
