C8 Pricing Not Likely To Be Announced Until Almost May 2019
I was looking at the announcement date for the C7 pricing, and it was not announced until the last week in April 2013, even though the car debuted at the Detroit Auto Show the prior January. If history is any indicator, it's going to be a long wait.

If you are talking about the Stingray official price announcement, you are correct that it was in the April 26, 2013 GM press release. However, during 1.13.13 reveal, Tadge Juechter said, "if you could afford a regular C6, you can afford a StingRay.”
And hence why I expect that we will again hear a similar phrase during the reveal of the 2020 ME Corvette.
My expectation is during the ME’s official reveal, Tadge will instead say, “If you can afford a Grand Sport, you can afford an entry 2020 C8 mid engine.”

That would put the entry level car at $68,315 - which is what a GS, 1LT, A8, coupe starts at. Affordable to many, but far above what a current 2019 Base 1LT, M7 zero option Coupe sells for after discounts, which is just under $50k.

Counting pricing discounts in the last year of a generation is not an apples-to-apples comparison to MSRP for the first year of a new gen.

Yes, but what was the base price of a no-option, 2014 C7? Wasn't it around $52K? That's the number to be used in a comparo of the starting price of a C8, or ME or whatever it's called. Or, you can use the base price for a '19 Stingray which is about $55.5K?
Plus, yes, pricing normally doesn't come out until, sometimes, AFTER the orders can be placed in late May, so April is far more likely than January, if that's the debut date.

They filed to trademark "Manta Ray" in 2015.
That seems to fit when the C8 design would have been created. It also fits with a successor to "Stingray."
This is pretty late in the game to trademark "Zora," but maybe they ran the focus groups and found it preferred to "Manta Ray?" I dig it more for sure!

If it starts at GS pricing, let's hope they have a substantial unit profit built in, because they will most likely cut off a large portion of their target market. Not at first, probably, but within 6 months or so after the "price is no object" must-haves are satisfied. The economic laws of supply and demand still work, I believe...

Yeah, a base $70k C8 means just a couple options and you wind up over $75k and up. It will be interesting for sure. If they plan to use the Camaro to fill the 45-65k range then they better improve the looks, visibility and build quality. Camaro sales continue to tank and the recent refresh of the front fascia is frightening. It will be interesting for sure.

GM doesn't really have a problem with the build quality on the Camaro, it's at least the best out of Ford and Dodge, the problem as you mentioned is visibility. Like the Corvette, they need to COMPLETELY redesign for next 7th gen and move away from that 1st gen look. I'd be happy if they make a usable 4 seater with similar sleek and low lines like the 4th gen. No need to turn the Camaro into the next ugly-*** Challenger. Some people will be hurt, but they will attract a lot more buyers. Look at what Ford is doing with the Mustang, they sell a **** ton of them to non-car people, women and insurance companies. 5th gen Camaro used to crush Mustang sales, but Ford realized what they were doing wrong. - Coming from a 2018 Camaro owner.

At 99.994354% priced out, GM will only sell between 2 and 10 C8s in the first year.

For the C5, production numbers where consistent across all the years as it was priced for the right market and audience. C6 production numbers fell on its face after the first two years as GM bumped the cost from the LS2 to LS3 base. For the C7, production numbers where half initial ones after the second year. GM has out priced the market that is interested in buy a Corvette. For the estimated cost of a C8 I highly doubt GM will sell even 15K the second year.
