Will GM and the C8 follow the new 992 Porsche way??
So Porsche for the new 992 Porsche 911 will only be offered in the wide-body model that previously only was offered for the Turbo models.
Since the C8 is going to be mid engine and the car is as wide as the leaders in that space (488, 570/720, NSX, etc.) Do you think that GM will only release one body type?
I know the grill could be different, extra aero, maybe deeper vents or ground effects, but a drastic change from the base C6 to Z06/ZR1 and the C7 base to Z06/ZR1. Effectively no wide-body model.
Just a thought...

All Widebody
The styling and chassis changes are closely related, as all 992s will have the wide rear bodywork that currently is used only on the all-wheel-drive and GTS models. This means that all versions will have the voluptuous 72.0-inch-wide hips in the back, and these will be coupled to a 1.6-inch-wider front track with matching wider front fenders. The Carrera S models that we rode in wore Pirelli P Zero tires in sizes 245/35R-20 in front and 305/30R-21 in the rear. That's the same front tire size as today's cars, and the rears share section width and series, so they're exactly one inch larger in diameter than the 991's rear tires and raise the rear axle height by half an inch.
The wheelbase is unchanged, but overall length grows by about an inch—all in the front overhang—due to a more rounded nose. The Carrera and Carrera S will share the 8.5- and 11.5-inch-wide (front/rear) wheels of the current 991.2 models; wheel diameters measure 19 inches in front and 20 in the rear on the base cars, while S models get 20s and 21s. This is the first time that 911s other than the scintillating RS models have used staggered front and rear wheel diameters.

Yes, I think it will only be one body style.

That's the beauty of the body on frame platform, it is relatively easy to change the fenders...

Gm in my opinion will offer a wide body c8.
doing so in the c6 and c7 has proven to be a huge profit center for the corvette team and also extends th life cycle of each the generations.
i own a “narrow “body which i feel is an incorrect label ...
the standard stingray as well as the standard c6 is far from narrow. Its only in comparision to the 1.5 inch wider z06,grand sport and zr1.
i love the looks of the wide body version as well as the narrower version.
i believe the c8 will continue the path of gm starting the new generation with one soze fenders and then with ultra high hp versions will have the woder body work.

That would be GREAT if they started with the 'wide body' but it's proved quite profitable for GM to gradually move up the performance and appearance ladder. Again, I certainly wouldn't object if they came 'out of the box' with the wide body version....

No offense, but if there is only one body width, there can be no "wide body". They are all just standard bodies.
