Concerned about the C8’s rear quarter’s looks, especially when Chaz and every other renderer have commented that the actual revealed car will look much better than their work, then how about the 2021 Porsche Turbo convertible’s looks in comparison?

Porsche picture thanks to Motor1 & cento/ottani.

Above, C8 is the lesser of 2 evils :-) Hoping for better.

The lesser of two evils is not a high bar. But good lord, that Porsche rear is an LSD-driven mess.

Yeah, the 991 rear end was much better looking than the 992. Not sure what Porsche was thinking.

Is more attractive than that Porsche's rear.

I am a big fan of older 911’s, but the latest 991-992, ugh! I mean how big are they going to get? In my opinion the great character has been lost and yes I have driven the latest.

With that said maybe GM is still in the weight saving mode (like with Cadillac) and better yet, shave an inch off every dimension of the C7.

Mary Barra said exactly that in her speech announcing 400 new jobs.... let's hope. I want an exotic looking car with lots of boy racer bits as people here call it in some obnoxious colors and one that brings the weight down to c7 levels

I am sure there are quite a few people who have seen the real thing by now and are real Corvette enthusiasts. Why not tell a friend enthusiast to post for them and 1) look at chazcron's renderings and simply say, front view 75% accurate, side view 80% accurate, rear view 60% accurate, 2) add some comments if possible

Default Comment from the paint shop leak from way back

Firstly, thank you very much to Chazcron for his amazing renders, I especially enjoyed the recent fiery one! I really like the design of the front especially.

With that said, I keep coming back to the original paint shop leak. Assuming this leak is of actual or nearly actual body panels, it appears to me that the rear of the car will be very substantially different than the camo mules and by extension Chazcron's renders which closely follow the mules. In the image below I have crudely overlaid part of the second paint shop leak photo (original photo also included for a refresher) onto Chazcron's latest rear view. The biggest deviation is the fact that the paint shop panel has a slightly downward curvature in the horizontal axis from the center whereas Chazcron shows a substantial upward curvature which is also reflected in his headlight shapes. I think the actual body is going to have substantially less volume in the rear and substantially smaller rear fender height to wheel top distance both of which will serve to make it look much more aggressive.

This is further implied looking at the other paint shop leak picture compared to an angled view of Chazcron's rear render overlaid with green lines. To me again the curvature in the horizontal plane is in the wrong direction and to too great a degree. Furthermore, it appears that the upper two lines have much less curvature in the top view than Chazcron's render while the bottom line may actually protrude outward more in a very aggressive Ferrariesque manner.

I sure can't wait for the 18th!

You can't make that comparison exactly because the rear of the car is extremely convex and the bumper is tilted forward. So while it looks like the cut for the lower bumper section could have a "hump up" in the middle, it could still be flat across when the bumper is oriented as it will be on the car.

His comparison is moot.. the paint shop fascia is leaning forward on a paint rack... it' won't overlay with the fascia vertically installed on the car.
