First render of the new year. I never got to the windshield wipers.

Shaka is consistently a douchebag. Man it must be exhausting to be around you in real life.

Chaz, thanks for all the hard work and making some great renders to keep us somewhat sated while we wait for this thing to be revealed.

Question Chaz: why did you eliminate the rear aero that is on the camo car in your render of the non camo car?

He still persists in defending his inaccurate render. Why the flattened rear end? His animated work illustrates what I was talking about. He admits that it is wrong yet gives himself a high grade. His ego won't permit him to come straight. I can go to an auto art forum to see this type of work. Most people are fooled by pretty pictures but a few of us here wish to reveal the actual design. I praised him for this work below but he has regressed. I took the liberty to add the round lights.

Frankly, I give him quite high marks for turning a camo ridden "who knows what" into a pleasant and, apparently, high resemblance, image of the real deal. I guess you could say a "sow's ear into a silk purse." Try to not be too hard on him!

And, of course, Chaz could be showing "active aero" and it is not exposed while standing still.

I also think Chazcron is doing a incredible job in his rendering skills! I've always thought that the wing on the camo car was just a plant-on to just throw us off. The plant-on wing cheapens the look of the car where a integrated active spoiler is way more sophisticated. There clearly shows a recess at the top edge of the rear fascia where a integrated active wing would slot into position. Also the original photo of the red rear fascia in the BG factory that was photographed had the rear vents wrapping around the side. The camo guys could easily 3D print a insert and wrap the side to appear that the vent is not on the side. I'll bet that the rear/side vent is the real deal.

Yeah, still no wipers or spoiler. I watched tutorials and learned to be more efficient.

Chaz, I get the feeling that if you get too close to the real thing, GM will have to pull the covers off.

Agreed! Wider wheels and tires require wider bodywork to cover them. A very simple dynamic.

True, but guess what, with the exception of the very large-body-sized V12 Lambo’s, ME’s do not have more than one size wider tires — with two exceptions. In fact the average Euro exotic has the same 245’s/305’s that the first year ME is going to — many using narrower tires. I compiled a list of each Euro exotic’s tires that I posted here on this forum and also elsewhere months ago showing this. In fact many Euro exotics have as small as 225 and 235 fronts, and only 285 or 295 rears.

Update: Found my earlier tire size comparison, and for ease, placing it here.

NOTE:Every 2019 Corvette, regardless of “entry” or ZR1, runs 19” F/20” R wheel.

The tire size for the entry Corvette ME is 245/35/19F and 305/30/20R.

Tire Size /Wheel Diameter for Common ME’s/RE’s (F/R)

Audi R8: 235/35/R19; 295/30/R19

Audi R8/V10: 245/35/R19; 295/30/R19 [Opt. R = 305/30R20]

Ferrari 488 GTB: 245/35R20; 305R30/R20

Ferrari Pista: 245/35R20; 305/30R20

Ford GT: 245/35/R20; 325/30/R20

Lambo Huracan: 245/30/R20; 305/30/R20

McLaren 570: 225/35/R19; 285/35/R20

McLaren 650: 235/35/R19; 305/30/R19

McLaren 720: 245/35/R19; 305/30/R20

Porsche GT2: 265/35/20;325/30/R21

Porsche GT3: 245/35/R20; 305/30/R20

Porsche 911S: 245/35/R20; 305/30/R20

The last time I posted this, a couple who responded noted that running one size larger tire, if planned for up front, does not necessarily require bigger bodywork.

Second, the insider rumor I heard, completely unsubstantiated, is that when the Z06 and larger ME versions come out, while the rear scoop will be 5/8” wider, the rest of the rear fender will not change, and that the front fender will identical to the entry Corvette ME.

Same color and lighting setup. Slow first day back at work. Light touchup, fake panel lines. Today I hope to learn UV mapping to bump map the panel lines.

Great job Chazcron. Yes, this thing is looking like a $265k car, not a $65k car

i'm okay with the C7 tail lights but i've gotta admit, i much prefer the 'roundies' version better. that looks pretty damn good!

It is my understanding that most manufacturers will not "over tire" their cars to the extent that GM will do. Possibly for liability reasons.

Some GM fitments are too wide for safe everyday use on the street. Definitely OK for hot, dry weather, but questionable in winter or in the rain. Hence the use of special weather modes.

One of the primary reasons Corvette has to "over-tire" the higher performing models is the fact that a high-powered RWD FE design will always be traction limited. The ME shouldn't need as much tire.
