What are your thoughts on this interpretation, with the inner part echoing the shapes that appear elsewhere on the car? Here it is with and without a scale-guessed license plate.

I would say the license plate proportions are a bit off, it should be a bit larger.

Great work, keep it up!

This looks like a great start. I assume the white back up lights will be there, similarly located like the C7. Here is where there is some guess work. I think it is true we’ve only seen the C8’s rear lights when they are lit up, at night even. So the question I have is when unlit and without braking will they appear similar to a regular C7 or like a C7 Z06 below. I’m sure you will use great judgment.

top: brake lights on. Bot: brake lights off.

I think it will follow the C7 and have red tail lights and GM will save the smoked clear lights for the upper trims. Personally I prefer the red lenses but that's just me. Although I think they will keep the red part surrounding the clear sections for the turn signals and back up lights and not that wall of red plastic.

I’ve read that the Escala will be going into production and it has a similar silhouette as this altho its a 5 door.

of course, no disparagement of Chaz’s work. He is trying to represent what we have seen in the camo cars. At least w camo, that wing looks really chintzy.

^^

There are several "similar" features on this and the C8 design as we know them so far.

The accent over side Q window and even the overall upswept shape with top chamfer , the under door hollow and rear end side vents are "similar"

If I were the designer I would be sure NOT to have such blatant design similarities between cars...family resemblance yes...copy no.

Even tho this is a patent image, it may not arrive as we see it in production. "Maybe" things changed after the c8 design was completed and they will modify the features on the Caddie.

That's sexy and along the lines of what I expected.
But after thinking about it(sorry I haven't followed a lot of the discussion) I am starting to think there may be a C8 that looks like FVS or Chazcrons images and then hopefully a supercar for the 1%'ers.

Here is my progress on the tail lights. Much improved. The inner brake and backup lights are still an image map, though. I made an approximate guess on Black Rose Metallic. The full res image is here:

The angles and lighting are slightly different, but focus on the tail light improvements.

This "less busy" look in the rear lenses.. is awesome in my view...

Thank you Chaz for the great work. I agree that the taillights have definitely improved. You have truly made the rear view rendering immensely more appealing than those of the past. Thank you also for the BRM render, and I agree that it isn’t quite what was on the ‘17 C7’s. Looks more like LBR but, I’ve gotta say ~ I’m loving it. Thanks again

Something to consider...even though the C7 tail lights are one unit they are clearly separated by a piece of carbon flash painted plastic to give the dual rear light look. Might want to see what that looks like on your rendering chaz.

I took most of the day off. I only tweaked the contours here and there, but I ended the day with a render nonetheless.

Chazcron's excellent work is depicting a bizarre design.

This thing is the Lindsay Lohan of sports cars. It's a hot freaking mess. Stubby, ungainly, and chaotic.

And seriously. What is that giant mouth supposed to do? Scoop up plastic garbage in the Pacific Ocean?

Looks damn good, its amazing what you can do with this renderer.
Also I gave IronV the benefit of the doubt for far too long, now looking back through this thread and others where he propped up his troll hut with him ignored makes those threads a bit more enjoyable.

These renders look great, I personally think this is about as close to the real car as possible and honestly I'll buy it and love it because it has a distinctly Corvette look, with a bit of exotic thrown in for good measure. It is also not super flashy like a Lambo or McLaren which is actually quite nicely understated.

As a response to IronV's question about the front end (and my last directed to him), the front end of the Corvette has always had a centralized grille opening. Even though this car may not technically need it "open" the appearance is quite useful in creating a recognizable face on a drastically different platform.

I'm still sold on Sebring Orange though.

An overlay comparison with the C7 would help with perspective.

Hey Chaz, how about a post with where ya started and where ya are today. These recent changes are so incremental I cant even tell what's different! Well done!

Not a bad idea. Maybe a supercut with a camo, early render and latest render, followed by a few beauty pass movies. Because I’m making it up as I go along, I’m also fine-tuning it as I go along. And as I go along, I’ve noticed some of the body panels have developed a dented look, especially after cutting the panel lines. I’ve fixed many of the imperfections in Photoshop, but that gets tiring to do it every single time. And since I’m learning a new program at the same time, my skills are improving. So I’ve been going back and fixing my poorly modeled sections too. Being nearly a perfectionist can be a chore. Every new tutorial I find shows me how little I know about this program.

Thanks for the suggestion, Darien. I may take it on.
