Yeah I’d agree that Chazcron is doing some really nice renders but in the end, they’re renders based on the camo disguise which GM has purposely made ugly to confuse anyone catching a glimpse of them. The camo is doing the job intended. I honestly think GM’s disguise team has done a great job of grafting lots and lots of ugly styling accents all over the IVers. GM Styling knows the future of the Corvette depends on a really awesome looking ME that can compete, style-wise, with the best in the world.

The rendering gurus here are just stuck trying to put lipstick on a pig (i.e. the IVers). So they’re severely handicapped because they can’t think “out of the box” as to what the new C8 could really look like. It wouldn’t surprised me if GM actually created special ugly fenders, front and rear ends just to incite confusion and the crazy amount of speculation we’ve seen on here. That’s just my 2¢. YMMV.

This is actually a pretty hilarious statement, because, when the first renders started coming out, drawn up by a few folks thinking "out[side] of the box", they too were lambasted by some, because their renders "looked nothing like the camo'd cars"... these guys can't win for losing...

Probably just me but I always liked the nose to be simple like this.

A few detail shots in first time Torch Red. I lit for the rear and spun the car for the front, so the lighting isn't as complimentary to the hood strakes. Oh, and my headlights blow up close.

Tom, it'll never be seen in ortho, and you are probably right about it being out too far, but I just can't bring myself to blunt the front end any further. FWIW, the renders line up pretty well in perspective. (But, yeah, probably too far out.) I guess time or leaks may tell.

I too love the color, and I like the discussion about different modeling consequences. Well done gentlemen.

Car looks great with trim body colored.

would be nice to see this color as Porsche and Lamborghini both have similar Miami Blue color and looks great on exotic.

Colors like this will attract a younger audience .

Great Job Chaz.

You do really impressive work chazcron considering what you're working with. For all the time and effort you give this project I think GM should invite you to be the first to see the real deal uncovered deep in the bowels of the tech center. Now the bad news.. I think the rear end of this car is God awful. Hard lines around the rear are to square and large and do not match the curvy smooth lines of the rest of the car. If this car really does look like that, IMO, the C8 is in big trouble....

There is some merit to this statement. At least parts of it. As nice as the work is that Chaz is doing, it is truly an educated guess. I too believe that GM has some extra magic up their sleeves and we will be blown away when the wraps come off. And, let's please remember one thing. Design by committee is normally only done in the conceptual phase of things. Someone is eventually allowed to put their stamp on things, maybe not publicly, but it will be known.

I agree, Chaz has done a fantastic job, and his renders look great in all the colors he’s done. I don’t know how the actual car is gonna come out, but I like it WAY better than the C7. No maturity to that design IMHO.
I just hope the real thing comes out looking like what Chaz has come up with.

I had a similar thought last night. They extend a conditional offer to come and see the car IF I sign a NDA and agree not to post any more renders... Tough choice. Sorry guys, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

They wouldn’t do that Chaz. GM is getting way too much FREE feedback from the Corvette faithful and car lovers in general, all due to your beautiful work! Thanks again for sharing!

The devil is in the details. Red and white corvettes are not my taste, but, the detail work in these is phenomenal, even in red!! If the real car is close to your work it'll be out of this world.
Keep up the great work.

Thanks for that side view. To my eye, and I realize you are working with the camo pics, the top of red line is just to high. Bringing that down more like the C8.R pics would lower the headlight a bit, possibly coming a bit forward and lower the top of the nose while at it. Not sure any of that is able to be done with current pedestrian safety regs and minimum lighting heights required.

like it or not, this image of the front fenders show exactly how much space there is between the wheel well and the top of the fender. Of course the image is taken at a top down angle so it appears deeper than it actually is. You must compare the headlight opening on the side to get a better idea of the thickness.

I traced this render off my monitor Nov. 17. It was from one of the first spy shots.

I think the front of the car is mostly fake including the height of the fenders, including lamps, and the nose and side glass. Here is the correct height from an aesthetic perspective at least.

I'm still sticking to my side scoop and hood outlet at least for the HP version.

I agree, like I said Chaz is just working with what's been provided and doing a great job. To my eye it just looks a bit wrong, isn't going to stop me from picking one up though. Lol.

The renders are outstanding, big thanks to those putting the time into doing those. I hope the car doesn't look like the renders as I find it uninspiring bordering on ugly and see it as a real missed opportunity to design a gorgeous exotic body on a mid-engine platform.
