Safety Car
Great work Chaz. Looks just like you were walking by an open driver’s door and peered inside.

Le Mans Master
very pretty car that goes like the wind, amazing.

A more proper look at the open doors. I modeled the door sills, but not the interior panel.

I love your work. But what happens when your clueless passenger opens the door and the first thing to hit the garage wall is the pointy tip of carbon fiber on the side intake? No way they make a door like that.
Again, not slamming you, your work is excellent, I just don't think the real side scoops will look like yours.
All the best.

Do you know of some magic carbon fiber or SMC composite that is hard and flexible at the same time?
We've seen GM's patent on the auto open/close doors. Maybe they decided to get stupid and over-engineer the thing with sensors and what not that will open the door for your and limit it so you can't hit it

Burning Brakes
I would think the likelihood would be GM would construct the forward portion, the area Chaz has in black, from something very similar to the material used on the Z06 front fender spats. Left unpainted, although not the most attractive, it would be durable and chip resistant. S**t happens but, any painted door surface when struck against a wall, post, another vehicle, will chip and be damaged. If in fact, the end result is left, as we see rendered, one can always go “old school” and install something like door edge protectors on the car or on the garage wall. This is of course for those who enter/exit by feel Just sayin’.

I'm wondering what the GM designers think of the abilities of the wonderful artists contributing here to make life-like cars - even if the renders are not 100.00% accurate to the actual car. Fun stuff. Lots to salivate over. Got to be a lot more and better than what was available for previous generations.

It's hard to say. They're either very happy or very unhappy for obvious reasons.
On an unrelated vein, what in the world makes "How to Clean" from the C3 forum a related thread to this one. It's very annoying to scroll to the bottom of a thread only to fine yourself in the middle of an ancient thread on something totally unrelated . . . WTF?

I was hoping he was somewhat off so as to not spoil the surprise, but afters seeing his Camaro and Mustang work (which I had never seen before) he clearly got those 99% right. Thus I expect the C8 will be very close to this other than the center of the front fascia opening and possibly the final side scoop iteration.

Safety Car
A good friend of mine who is a decades long personal friend with one of the ME’s designers, last week talked to that designer as they together looked over the then recent ME renderings, and without sharing any more, the designer has enjoyed the renderings getting closer to the real car.

Chaz has an amazing track record, but almost every good design always looks better in person with nuances never seen in renders. I think there will be surprises when we see the real deal, but of course, there will be a fair number of haters no matter what.

At first I was confused because if they were standing next to an undisguised C8, then why not just take a photo of the exterior? Then the blurs - hiding the inconvenient parts of the photoshop that don't quite fit. Plus the side glass looks fake. And the reflections in the paint are lawn, not beach. And that interior shot looks to be a clay mockup, not the finished product. I doubt prototypes run around with clay interiors. Overall though, I did have to look twice, so props to the artist here.
