Has anyone actually confirmed this midengine thing driving around is a Corvette?

Sounds like no one can actually confirm this is a Corvette. For all you guys know it could be an entirely different vehicle. I dont want to put a Deposit on a C8 corvette and then they wind up releasing something completely different. Sure its refundable, but this is the C8 forum and this is a completely reasonable topic, so I'm not sure what is up with all of the smart *** remarks.

What your deposit gets you is a place in line. Allocation systems will once again be in place and the volume dealers will be in the catbird seat. The dealer I've bought my last two new Vettes from tells me he has been taking deposits on the 'C8' for FOUR years now. When your turn comes up, you either order one or turn it down and get your money back. You can also back out at any time for a refund before your number comes up - there will be plenty of folks behind you. In the meantime the dealer is banking your deposit. Win-Win. Sounds fair if you want to be an early buyer.

If he puts down a deposit for a C8 at a Chevy dealer and this mid-engined thing turns out to be a Cadillac, he will not have placed a deposit on this car.

Historians should take note of the serious first-world problems expressed on this thread!

My dealership guy stated that it is a mid engine car. That it is not a Caddy. That it is a Corvette. That is good enough for me.
Also, in couple of the pics of the car it is showing a Corvette logo on the rear of the car, under the camo. Don't ask cause I can't remember, memory is not what it used to be.

If the ME car is anything but a Corvette, then, GM has succeeded in fooling pretty much every car mag and guru out there. It's going to be a C8 Corvette (common sense should lead most to that conclusion).

It depends on what the deposit is for. If it's for "a C8 Corvette" and this thing isn't a Corvette, then he still has a deposit on the wrong car, regardless of whether the dealer also sells Cadillacs.
Deposits for unannounced products are by definition ambiguous and are usually informal, so I don't think he's risking much.

Reminds me of the 90s when I placed a deposit on a Harley for MSRP. Two months later it came in with a dealer price adjustment of $2000.00. Needless to say he used my deposit just to get a sold name on the order. I did get it back and the next fool in line took the bike. First & last deposit I make without seeing the object in plain view.
Undoubtably , some want one of the first cars to flip or send overseas for big money. Buying a bridge on conjecture is plain foolish. Can't wait to read about the scams involved .

Had my $1000 down for 3 1/2 years. I will be in the first allocation. If I don’t care for the car I am sure someone here on the forum will buy out my slot and I’ll make some $s.
Frankly with the 14 C7 which I was is the initial allocation when I flipped it I got almost as much as I paid for it because folks were lined up to get one.
Buy a new corvette dump it a year later with minimum depreciation, I like that
