My local dealer doesnt have any deposits yet, so I may place one.
I cant find anything actually stating, as a fact, that the mid-engine thing we are all talking about is a corvette. With how much assuming is happening it surely must have been stated somewhere, but between all the blogs and forum posts talking about it I cant find an actual source.
Just not wanting to put down a deposit on a c8 and then have this thing turn out to be a cadillac.

How about the fact that CHEVROLET dealers were shown a silhouette of the ME car in Las Vegas a few months ago at a dealer meeting?

Besides, any reputable dealer will refund your deposit 100%.
Regardless, I wouldn't put a deposit down at this time, as there's too many unknowns. What "brand" it falls under should be the least of anyone's worries.

Really, if you put down a deposit on what you think is a Corvette, and it turns out to be a Cadillac. Don't you think you would get your deposit back?

One more verse on the ole guitar. And yes, to answer that question, it is absolutely, positively a 2020 Corvette.

Reminds me of a bunch of kids on Christmas Eve.
Someone posts a mish-mashed pic of a C7, Porsche 918, Ford GT and Lamborghini Aventador's interior and says this is what he thinks the the C8's interior is going to look like.

Sounds like no one can actually confirm this is a Corvette. For all you guys know it could be an entirely different vehicle. I dont want to put a Deposit on a C8 corvette and then they wind up releasing something completely different. Sure its refundable, but this is the C8 forum and this is a completely reasonable topic, so I'm not sure what is up with all of the smart *** remarks.
I never had any doubt it was a Chevrolet product. I was asking if the actual model was confirmed. Chevrolet makes cars other than the Corvette.

I couldnt care less about the badge, but I do care about putting down a deposit on a Corvette and then they wind up releasing the "Zora" and the dealership decides to not honor the deposit. I really didnt think this question would stir up so much criticism.
Now I think its pretty much settled that no one knows what this thing will actually be, so I'll probably be waiting before doing anything.

With the 0.001% interest I am getting at my local bank, and even the 1.95% I am getting on my Corvette fund at the best on-line savings bank, why would I not put down a totally refundable $1,000 deposit on my 2020 ME — at a dealer who only sells at MSRP (no “market adjustment on either first year models nor on even limited production ones).
For those who have forgotten, there were, in addition to the 37,000+ who received their first year C7, an additional 1,150 who were told by their local dealers that they 2014 order had been a GM accepted order, only to later learn that GM was unable to make all that they thought they could.
So with Plant capacity dropping from 40K annually to 33K annually, even at “firewall overtime” (source = Kai Spande, BGA Plant Manager), what it the ME is as big or a bigger one year success than was the first year C7.
For those of us who remember how many tried and could not get a C7 at sticker or below in year one, we know this could again happen next year to those who have not planned ahead (or who are not personally connected to a dealer, etc).

You will never find a “hard source” right now unless you were able to hack into GM’s files (which would be so wrong to even try). You can find a this-last-May video of GM’s Mark Reuss telling you that he is happy with the upcoming C8.
Has any top member of the GM team ever used the terminology of a C5, C6, C7 or C8 in regards to a Cadillac; or the reverse, has every time a top member of the GM used the terminology of a C5, C6 or C7, solely and only referred to a Corvette.
