$169,900, final price confirmed

Then what's the purpose of testing on base level brakes and narrow body tire sizes? Obviously, different brakes can be bolted on to the same platform . . . duh. The current C7 comes with 5 different brake packages (Stingray, Stingray Z51, GS, Z06 iron, Z06/ZR1 carbon ceramic.
Here's a clue PCM since you so clearly missed the obvious . . . they have to test the car's performance envelope in all anticipated price ranges, and when you factor in all the other component differences from entry level to top dog, that's how a car like this can be priced from 70-something to 170-something. It's the same w/ Porsche.

As a two-time Gen V Viper owner, active member of one of the largest regional Viper clubs, and guy who keeps his ear to the ground from the people who do know what's going on - this has already been disproved ad nauseam. Every single Viper owner who's in-the-know with the demise in 2017 knows this article goes against everything stated in on-and-off the record conversations with Ralph Gilles. Far too many reasons to explain why this isn't happening any time soon. Please keep the Viper false rumors in the Viper forums.
Many people don't like the $170K price point because it puts the highest performance Corvette out of reach for them. "Their" beloved Corvette is going away and they will have to "settle" for a FE Stingray with only 500 hp and a 10 speed auto trans instead of a ME twin turbo V8 with a DCT.
But GM and Corvette have higher goals: a world class supercar that can compete and win against anything on the market up to $300K. This goal is necessary because the car market is moving away from the U.S. which is primarily a pickup/SUV market now. GM needs to conquer the world car market and Zora ME will be the flagship to do that, but it won't be a bargain in the traditional Corvette value proposition. Instead, it will be a value in the supercar world market. Sorry guys, but that's the way it is.

I know, you boggle my mind so completely w/ your tortured logic, that I can't help myself. I thought the madness was dying, and then you return with almost identical nonsensical posts that you've repeated here dozens of times..

Aluminum just like the C7, Pulse MIG welded just like the C7 in Bowling Green as they do now. Easy to retrain those robots just need a new fixture! If making both C8 and C7 for a while that two station robotic cell, visible on most C7 plant video's, doesn't take that much room! Agree may be some magnesium parts like the cradle to reduce weight in the rear and add rigidity. The C7 seat frame is magnesium for weight and rigidity, not that exotic!

Lol I AM out!!!!! good luck GM, Zerv you lost your mind, if your correct GM has lost their mind. Not buying a Chevrolet for 169k. I can buy a preowned 2017 Mclaren 570S for 145k with less than 4K miles and with a 3 year unlimited mile warranty. I can buy an Audi R8 for under that price that is a hand built car with a hand built V10. Even the Viper was hand built and came in just at 100k. I know many argue with me and say hand built doesn’t matter sorry assembly line car coming out of BG is no way comparable, even the dealer net work can’t compete, sorry it matters for 95% of the buyers at that price point.

Too early to say I told ya? The zora is a specialty car that is meant to put the corvette name back at the top of high speed super coupes. Its not really meant to be a regular production car. The C7 will remain, until they are ready for the next production car which is not this "c8 zora".

I own a small block '67 coupe and a '14 Premier Edition. Have $1K down with a dealer for a C8. Was thinking of selling the '14 to make room in the garage for the C8. But $170K?! I'm sure they'll find people to buy some at that price, but how many? I understand supply and demand curves, and Chevy has no doubt studied this. But, again, $170K? Ouch. Having a significant problem with that.
Re the M/E design, I'm good with that. The idea of a DOHC with twin turbos … Oh, my. The people who whine "Its always been a front engine car!" probably complained when they stuck in the V8; "Its always been a straight six!".

I'm with ED. No, wait. I agree with Corvette ED. For someone who loves Corvettes (all of us), that seems reasonable for those that can afford that, or something else. If you want an R8, buy an R8. I am certainly not their target market, but I am used to that for drool worthy 'Vettes. As long as my market is not forgotten, I'll praise the rest of them.

Too expensive
I agree too expensive. Look I took my 2008 ZO6 and for 15K made it into a first class world beater. I dont understand why it should cost that much. What is it 850 hp? It still gets beat by the Tesla in the 1/4 mile???
Lets get back down to earth. Take a 2017 ZO6, spend 8K extra on it and nobody is a treat. Everyone loves it and you will spank that mid engine C8. Thats a performance statement. Now for the handling and pride of ownership I would love to have one...but 170K is a bit over the top. I am sure that an argument can be made for that amount of money for what you will recieve and everyone would be happy. The McLarens and the Audi V10 is overpriced as well. I have to tell you I get a kick out of pulling up to exotic cars with my simple 08 modified Z and all they do is drool. None of them want any of it. All I do is accelerate through a few seconds and they become submissive. I have lots of fun with my ride, C8 will have its merits, the people that will spend 170K for it pick their teeth with 100 dollar bills after lunch. So its all relative now isn't it.
Peace Out!
