2 of the biggest reasons are AWD and PDK. If you put those 2 things in a C7 it would dominate the 911 imo. I say this as a prior owner of several 911's in the 991,991,2 era. The lack of a dual clutch and awd has everything to do with price. Chevy couldn't get customers to pay well north of 100k so how do they pull it off? Going to 170k base price is shooting just a little too far imo but what do I know.

It hilarious that a lot of people in here can't accept the fact that Porsche builds a better sportscar than GM does and that the 911 is a better car than the Corvette. The Kool Aid runs thick in here, so thick it's blinding.

You mean the $293,200 911 beats the $121,000 Corvette...you got me there. The GT2RS is faster.
Of course, most sane folks would match cars a little closer in price, but I guess not here.
But if we did that, it would be the ZR1 verses the GT3 and I think we know how that would turn out.

So when I hear people saying exactly what you said I laugh because it's a cop out. And to be 100% honest I used to think just like you and many others but then I realized that when you get into this price range you're looking for the best, not cheapest.
I bought my '14 because it was the best performing car that I could afford and I haven't looked back and chances are when GM gets off their *** and reveals some more info on the C8 (price, layout, etc) chances are I will get it because again, it will more than likely be the best performing car that I can afford. If however by some miracle I win a lottery I doubt that I will buy a Corvette because I know that there are cars out there that perform much better and I won't care about the price as much.

well guess what, Corvette as of right now doesn't have PDK or AWD and fwiw, the GT2 RS isn't AWD.

It already has. The 92K Grand Sport beat every Porsche out there except the multi million dollar 918 Spyder, and tied the GT3 with all of it's weight lightening options including no AC or stereo.

The video pretty much explains why an Exclusive Edition Porsche costs what it does. Lots of labor by skilled craftsmen and women. Thanks for posting. I love watching videos of car manufacturing and assembly.

I think it should be noted that yes Porsche builds a faster sports car than GM...but it costs almost 3x as much as a top of the line Corvette as you need to sheel out the money for the Weissach package to realize the performance that Porsche uses for their record runs. As far as being a "better" sports car, well that is subjective and I may have agreed with the 4.0 GT3 being a better sports car, but the GT2RS is too much computer and not enough soul...kinda the reason the ZR1 took PCOTY this year and not the GT2RS, Senna, or 488 Pista (the ZR1 tested was also an auto...).
I am not a Porsche guy by any stretch of the imagination due to the exorbitant costs associated with buying a P-car, but I would love to have a 4.0 GT3 non RS. The best Porsches are the ones that do less hand holding and more communication, I will agree that the C7 has a rather vague front end at times, but I never had an issue knowing what each wheel was doing at any time, and the way the car felt like it rotated around my "butt axis" was always reliably predictable when it came to breaking the rear end loose a bit on corner exit.
If I had the money for a GT2RS, I would pocket some of the change from buying a McLaren 600LT. It may not break the Nurburgring lap record but I know that it will feel absolutely amazing and is a proper mid engine super car (with top mount exhausts for shooting fire!).
Ultimately I think the Porsche fanboy is far "blinder" to the truth about Corvettes than the other way around. The Corvette is very much a direct competitor to Porsche at all tiers (maybe not cars like the 918) and anyone who can't see that has their entitlement blinders on. The only thing that Porsche offers that is at a higher level than a Corvette is the interior quality. This is a known difference...but not one that constitutes a double the price difference for similar performance. In the end the Porsche is a higher-end car than the Vette, but don't delude yourself by claiming that it is better at being a sports car because of interior quality. Owning a Porsche and Corvette would be the optimal situation, but for those of us still living on a modest budget, being able to have Porsche performance for a fraction of the price is worth more than being that guy that always corrects others who don't pronounce Porsche as POR-SHA!

What continually amuses the hell out of me is that the vast majority of folks arguing about relative superiority will never see a race track or use 5/10ths of what even a base C7 is capable of. Even the vast majority of us amateurs who do have some track experience aren't skilled enough to get 8 or 9/10ths out of any of the cars in this discussion on a race track.
A true professional could take a base C7 and lap any amateur in any $300K+ supercar on the market within a relatively short period of time.

I'm not sure what any of this is attempting to prove. Strip a car, throw some HP in it, and put some fat tires on it and you have a great track time. So what. Lots of cars have great track times. And today's cars will get beat by tomorrow's cars, that's just the way it is. Which car is faster, or more of a value, or has a better stereo, er whatever is all over the map. Yes, a 911 is a better car...it just is. But, duh, it costs a lot more. No one said you have to like the 911, and it is perfectly fine to like the looks of one over the other and you would be right to do so. No one said the 911 is a good value for money, or easy to fix, all nice advantages for the Corvette. This entire debate is pointless.

hahahaha......name one model of Corvette that has appreciated in the last 30 years, I can name a half dozen Porsches. Now ask yourself why. So while you may say that Porsches cost 2, 3 even 4 times as much a Corvettes they also make you money, something that a Corvette will never do.

That just makes sense. Corvettes dominate track environments PERIOD, C7 Z06's rule! Of course so do the few new ZR1's but imo too much hp. IMHO the Z06 needs to shed about 100hp but that is just me. Or another way I could put is add 100 hp to the Grand Sport and you have a beast!
