I don't mind different points of view. Just don't be an idiot when you have one.

So simple! I suppose the challenge is not everyone agrees on what being a idiot is. Lol. Our kids use the if I wouldn't say it in person dont say it in chat.

It's usually apparent to everyone but the idiot. There is a direct correlation between low ability and a high degree of certainty that one is right. It's called the Dunning-Kruger Effect and one sees it on a regular basis.

Zerv02,Thanks for the information before you head back to the mothership. Here’s G.M.’s pricing philosophy: “If you can afford a C7 you can afford a C8.”That’s it. I assume Zerv02 was just fooling and trying to get some sort of a reaction. It was definitely my laugh for the day!

While I agree that the C8 will not be quite that expensive, GM has never said that is their philosophy concerning the C8. That is just your opinion.

Ditto for 80+% of their target buyer demographic, which is why the base price of the car will be closer to $60K than $100K. That's the Corvette pricing model for 60+ years, it's not going to suddenly change next year.

I'm not too concerned either way, my C7 may be all the sports car I'll ever need or want, the car is off the hinges great/fast/cool, etc. Two years now and the honeymoon is not over yet.

Maybe you can buy your base model beloved 911 that will most probably be much less attractive and have inferior performance and so on!

Winner winner chicken dinner, although I think the price for entry will be closer to $70k than $60. Pssst, close to $60 would be outstanding!

MSRP:
1997: $37,495
2004: $43,710
2014: $52,000
2020: $62,000-$66,000. I just don't see the jump to $100,000+ when you look at past pricing.

Listen...if ever there was a forum with, at a minimum, PLENTY of differing views, it's this one. Now, the problem here is that too many threads get knocked off the rails by a small group of folks that DON'T know how to deal with differing opinions. Being contrary for the sake of being contrary is NOT what any discussion should be about. I suggest you visit OFF TOPIC if you're just bristlin' for controversy with no brains behind it.

Please.... dont give me the "dealership experience" jarggin. Tell me what kind of experience your going to get buying a GTR from a Nissan dealer..... ah hah.

You do know some Zr1's can be optioned up to around $150k? I saw one at Les stanford plopped up between a chevy equinox and a silverado.... dealership experience....
LOL, you seem to have completely misunderstood me. My point was NOTHING justifies a $170K price point for a car to be used primarily on the street, and 99.9% are not capable of using the capability that price point brings on a race track. I wouldn't ever consider a ZR1 purchase. That's just me, and I am a 1%-er who can afford it.

I'm not one of those with a burr up my *** about buying a Corvette from a Chevy dealer. I have great Chevy dealer. And yes, I do have significant track experience in several different cars, and I still do not have the skills to take advantage of those capabilities. I'm experience rich, but talent-limited, and I'm smart enough to recognize that.

In order to hold on to it's market share, GM knows very well that any new ME is going to have to start at around $70K. That car will be more than 99% can handle going 8-9/10s. The same is true of the base C7.

That's one man opinion. Seeing how MONK like confrontation for no reason other than confrontation I MUST argue that he is a d**k if for no other reason than this is his style .

Be argumentative even when the no valid reason to be.

Honestly your probably right he a great guy. One of those who will argue for argument sake on the Internet but would never be a jerk to other in the same fashion in person.

I read an earlier post that said the Internet brings out the worst in person?

I would say the the CF brings out the worst. Ferrari Chat you never see this back stabing argue for argument sake.

Not sure how the Porsche forum is yet but I just ordered a 911 so I guess I see.

I am new to Porsche so I am just hoping it much closer to the helpful and informative side and not the pissy argue over nonsense seen here on the C8 forum.

I've interacted with Monk on many different subjects here over the years, and I don't think he "likes confrontation for no reason other than confrontation." Like me, he enjoys a good debate. We've tangled on various matters and agreed on others. I respect his opinion, and I've never felt he got overly personal. He may have gotten irritated at times, as I have I, and taken a jab or two.

I've regretted doing that, and strive to avoid it because it gets one nowhere even on an "anonymous" forum. However, we all have our weak moments where patience wears thin.
