Lets be honest, sports cars don’t sell like they used to and Corvettes tend to appeal to an older crowd. If the Corvette isn’t priced as a value sports car then this could well be the last generation of Corvette. I hope that doesn’t happen. Corvettes simply aren’t an equal to a Porsche 911 and can’t be priced anywhere near as high. If the price is right, maybe I’ll buy a mid engine, but I can’t see paying Porsche money for a Corvette. I know this opinion may be unpopular with some here, but I believe it to be true

For example, 1LT to 2LT is around $4500 extra, 2LT to 3LT is around $5200 extra assuming the C8 follows the same trend. Wheel upgrade options typically range from $500 - $1995. Special colors, stripe packages, etc. If we zero in on the base price it makes it easier to estimate the cost of a C8 with additional options.
Don’t forget there may be two ME versions introduced at the reveal, the ME Coupe and the ME HT. Although the ME HT may start production later. Both may be offered in a no optioned Base form. The ME HT will probably MSRP at least $5K above the Coupe, even maybe requiring a minimum upgrade optioned (2LT-3LT or even a new 4LT package).

I figure that the people that voted at 65K and under are dreamers, those that voted 80K and over are elitists. LOL

No, the people that voted $65K and under are "realists" the ones that voted $80K and above have no knowledge of GM/Chevrolet historic pricing on Corvette!

Actual base price of this 1965 Sport Coupe was $4231!

Talk about pricing increases between generations......In 1962 when the last generation C1 was made, the base price was $4038. In 1963 the first C2 Stingray Convertible was priced at $4037 or $1 less! This with a completely different body, interior and frame with IRS. So, just because the C8 is ME it does not have to be astronomically priced!

It's somewhat comforting that only 6% of the nearly 210 CF member voters on this poll are delusional.

I had to boot up the inflation calculator just to check this out. $5,000 in 65 is the equivalent of around $40,000 now. The base price of an 84 and 97 vette in relation to current dollars puts them both in the mid $50k range. So the dollar value of the vehicle actually went up slightly over the years. Again, very unlikely the base will start north of 70k. They literally will price themselves out of their own market.

I am curious why everyone is so fascinated with Blind spot detection and front and rear cameras. Is the visibility that bad on the C7? I've never really had much seat time in them, mainly just at shows and nothing really struck me as the car needing it. None of my dailys have it and the few vehicles that I have driven that do have it, I am smarter than. (As in I know it is there before the little light lights up.) The lane keep assist on the tahoe almost caused an accident because they changed the lines for construction and some of the old line was there still and the truck jerked to try and get "back in it's lane" and almost hit the guy next to me. Luckily I grabbed the wheel hard but before that I didn't even know it had that option... I get people want it but do you need it is what I am just wondering. Not a jab or anything, I am just genuinely curious.

Not needed for me but a nice to have when you are spending a lot of money. The lane departure stuff is annoying but the the rear cross traffic alert is useful and the blind spot monitor is just another aid but not required if you set your mirrors as you are supposed to.

Yeah, based on the poll over 60% of the group would be in for a shock if a base C8 with no options came in at $80k, which is essentially the base price of a C7 Z06. Assuming they still offer multiple trim levels that would push GS and Z06 models quite a bit higher. I am thinking the C8 base model targets the current C7 GS price point and it looks like a large percentage of those who voted agree.

One thing I find interesting is that at the moment there are 14 people that think the C8 will have a starting price over $100k but the same number of people think the car will cost just about the same as the current C7, which is what prompted me to create a poll. I have never seen such a wide range of prices being thrown around for a new Corvette, we are talking a at least a 40k spread in this poll, not to mention the other post of $169k. I guess it is somewhat expected since the new car is undergoing such a big design change and high end mid-engine performance cars usually have Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. for company. The good news, I think, is that 2/3 of the folks that responded feel that a base C8 will start at $70k or less. That would put it in Grand Sport pricing territory out the gate, which seems reasonable assuming it delivers the goods. If it comes in higher than $70k though, 66% of us will be in shock and awe.

Taking a wild stab at ME pricing is an exercise in futility until GM announces if the FE dies with the 2019 model year or continues on after the ME arrives.. Until that is known and the dynamics of the offering is understood any guess is a waste of time..

OK, I'll bite. $100,000+ if the FE lives on, $65K-$70K if the FE dies..

I haven’t driven every variant of the 911 but I’ve owned a turbo. I’ve driven the Gt 3 which is great for the track but not a great daily. The interior is better but it’s still noisy. I did like my c7 z06 better than my Porsche turbo. They’re both great cars but for all around car that can be a great daily and track car, I liked the C7 better. Also, like the look of the c7 better that's my opinion. My Z06 performed better at the track than the turbo granted it wasn’t an S but still. I would pay turbo s money for a me Corvette that had the performance of the GT2.

Blind spot detection isn't needed or a problem on the C7.
Rear camera is pretty much a necessity if you need to back up a C7 - you can't see much behind a C7. The front cameras are also hugely beneficial - the front is so long and so low that you can't see the front 2' of the car, and it is so low any parking stop will damage the front facia. Of course, neither camera is needed if you bring a spotter to get out of the car and guide you.

The nose thing was almost always a problem tbh. I didn't know front facing cameras were used for that. The C3 with a big block hood is probably the worst. You only see the tips of the wheel wells lol. I am surprised about the rear though, the window is fairly large and I would think you shouldn't have too much of a problem. I have the back up problem in the 84 but it's mainly just a matter of I physically sit so low that looking in the rear view I basically see the top of the bumper only. When I sat in the C7 I didn't feel like I was laying in a bath tub like the 84 and didn't think to look behind me much.

Those are some valid reasons. I just kind of learned how to tell on mine but there are a couple battle scars on the air dam and lower bumper... mostly the previous owner though with the bumper, I usually barely tap the air dam if I do. However I have a ton of bashes on the oil pan from freaking speed bumps. I'd imagine you guys have problems with those too?

It would be cool if GM launched a whole new model in addition to the regular C7 but I am not sure if there is enough demand for both.

I'm one of those who does not need them, therefore does not want them included in base form if it forces me to pay more for them. Add them as an optional package. We have those on my wife's new Lexus and they are annoying. Every time I park the car in the garage the lane departure sensor starts beeping . When I back up I never use the back up camera, I forget it's there. My wife's RX 350 has notorious rear blind spots compared to our older RX 300 which is now my daily driver but I feel I don't need them. They compensate for poor design when it's comes to visibility.

Well I think..that ONE DAY there could be lots of different prices.. Can't you take a C7 and add 3LT and every other option not listed in that package? Stripes and more stuff? I mean CAMARO showed a paint job at SEMA one year that was $60,000 so I guess you could get just about anything on a Corvette

Granted to this po boy GM has done some dumb things in the past...the CIMMARRON, the NOVA in Mexico, but if the inmates have taken over the asylum they sure spending a lot of time getting ready to unveil a new model with NO alternative for $169,000 or what ever. My Z51 looks pretty good paid for.

This poll was intended to be about the base or entry-level price.
