Maybe GM (or someone else) just has a sense of humor, because....

I thought something was amiss too based on the area you referenced but if you really look at it, it's definitely the same fob. That area must be where the key ring goes into because you can see the bottom surface through each hole when you look closely at it. So it's just a pass through opening. It's actually a very cleverly designed keyfob that would clearly encompass all the things you'd need to open or start. Pretty intuitive too.

Looks right to me. No photoshop or anything. No hoax either. I bet the only difference between the two fobs is the back plate where the emblem is. Some Cadillacs and then the Corvette share or have shared key fobs anyway. I'm going with two ME variants with this leak. C8 vette and then Cadillac halo car.

How many front engine cars/trucks/SUVs allows one to unlock the hood that allows access to the engine compartment, using a FOB?
Does any current Caddy have a top that goes into a storage arear behind the passenger compartment.? Clearly one of the buttons is for that function.
The FOBs to my cars have four buttons. Unlock door/lock door/open trunk/alarm.
The FOB in question has six buttons. If it's not for a car with a frunk in addition to a trunk/hatch, then why the extra two buttons for a hood unlock for a top that disappears?

That's one ugly and cheap looking Key FOB. It looks like it belongs to a $25K car. GM needs to step ups their Key FOB design and quality & feel specially on the Corvette.

It would be very cool if the new ME was a Cadillac and the Vette stayed FE. It would allow the ME to be priced much higher and keep the Corvette price down.

Who is this everyone you speak of? Many (including myself) would not give Cadillac the time of day! Couldn't care less about a Cadillac or for that matter any other GM or domestic brand with maybe the exception of Tesla. I had Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini posters on my walls as a kid, not a Cadillac poster. There is almost zero chance the initial ME would be a Cadillac and IMO it would be DOA. In fact, on the minuscule chance GM makes the ME a Cadillac I would probably done with a Corvette for a while.
