You wrapped the key ring attachment around the "end" of your 3D box. Of course that won't work. That is not how the key ring attachment is on the fob. It is essentially on the same plane as the rest of the fob. You can see the depth of the key ring attachment in the photos.

The 2005 xlr key fob looks almost identical to my 2005 c6 key fob. Maybe this is the c8 key fob minus the logo. We know how GM likes to save $$$, just look at the equinox inspired interiors across the gm line-up!
The picture above shows two separate key fobs. The photographer was hiding the vette logo on the one facing up. I know because i know.

Anyways, about that Cadillac version of the C8.
The XLR was expected to sell 5000 - 7000 per year.
From 2003-2011 it sold only 15460 total.
The most sold in a single year was 3730.
In other words, it was a total bust.
The main difference now is that Cadillac has the Blackwing 4.2TT V8. Might the Cadillac C8 will get the 4.2TT while the Chevy version gets the 5.5TT? Seems crazy but I guess it's possible and it could explain the one analyst report on engine production. But I don't understand how they could now be testing the captured fleet of Cadillac C8 vehicles sub rosa.

Fair enough. GM appears to use the engine cranking symbol on fob of their other EV, the Bolt. In my opinion it's a misapplication of the symbol and It's even incongruous with the power button inside the car. But they do seem to do it, so they might also do it on a Cadillac.

The chrome trim in the middle is the side scoop shape. There I said it. Goodnight.

Using your own example: paint a lower-case "d" on a pane of glass and walk around to the other side. What does it look like? A lower-case "b".
In other words, you need a mirror image of one side in order to compare. As you can see, when one side is mirrored, the front and back have the same shape:
Original image of front
Mirror image of back

Second, the biggest tell tale sign its for a mid engine car is THE POWER HOOD BUTTON!!!!!! AKA TRUNK IN A MID ENGINE!!!!

So, with that, it looks like that FOB could be really thick given the placement of a third silver band in the middle ending at the key ring loop. Or am I wrong about that too as I had suggested that earlier.

Just to clarify one more time. If the hole on the left of the fob pictures is on the bottom even after the fob is flipped over then it must be magic or maybe gravity makes it drop from the top to the bottom no matter which way the fob is laid down

Zymurgy, thanks for your insight and this curtious post, unlike some other responses in this thread. But, hey, this is CF, and I earned it. Mentioning the same plane aspect had me rethink that the ends folded over completely 90 deg and was not accurate as you pointed out. It looks more like 45 Deg so that the rings come together in the middle of the FOB on the left end. With that I deleted several of my posts you referenced but left a few for memories.
