If you're bold enough to state emphatically that something like that is a done deal, then you should at least have the evidence to back it up too, otherwise, it's just more BS being shoveled on all of us.

Btw, anyone get the feeling that Zora.Info and Zerv02 might be one and the same? Just sayin'
Zora.Info ADMITTED his thread was "a joke". Zerv02 has not. Plus, since Zerv02's statement is so vague, it could be true that some high-perf version of the C8 might be priced at that level.

Personally, I don't feed trolls (Zerv02 probably belongs in this category) and strongly suggest others don't feed them either. Ignore them and they go away.

Fixed.

I don't know WHY the internet causes people to believe the damnedest thing, but it does.

I'm just trying to see the Zerv02 post hit 1000 posts...so that when the real pricing comes out enough people will have seen it and know what most of us already believe...

It's sad at how much coverage this one thread has received and the number of other "car related websites" that have picked it up as well. Honestly, that thread is a bad public representation of Corvette owners and having it blasted all over the internet is terrible. I know the mods probably had to keep it instead of shutting it down due to the traffic it is generating...but it's still sad.

I don't know, the vast majority of the posts there were sensible, and in the "no way" camp. Moreover, any discussion of anything on the internet these days looks kinda like that discussion, with a combination of flamers and sensible folks. It's just the norm.

In this case, it was the subject matter that caused it to be picked up. The ME Corvette is the #1 topic of interest in the auto enthusiast world right now.

Ok... not sure how to pose this but...... we have officially reached “Idiocracy” level :

https://www.carscoops.com/2018/11/co...00-rivals/amp/

But, to be fair, the author does say that price would ONLY apply to the top trim dual turbo version. I wonder where the authors got that $170k number from...... hmmm.

Toward the end the OP changed his tune and admitted there will be variants that will have a spread in price.

Sure at some point in time there could be a high end C8 with a very high HP engine, movable aero elements and fancy "real leather" interior (not ground leather scrap filler "leather like" vinyl GM coined as Mulan!)

Yep I'm hoping a higher end model might include an F1 type KERS system. Will it happen- who knows? But fun to "help" GM make decisions! I'm confident they are laughing with us as we speculate!

GM will introduce the C8 at a price to sell similar volumes as the C7, IMO.

agreed. The other thread has achieved 'Critical Mass'. It is now sentient with a life of it's own.

All hail the singularity!

Not a big surprise there! The C4 ZR-1 was the best C4, the C6 ZR1 was the best C6 and now, the C7 ZR1 will be the best C7. Obviously, no clarity on WHEN will the C7 ZR1 sing its swan song.

Hmmm it’s interesting that Tadge said this is the end of c7 development. There is no indication of a new FE car after the C7 as he previously said they wring evverythi g they can out of the FE setup. Those 2 statements from the Corvette engineer point to no further FE models coming. Unless Chevy keeps on producing FE, ME will be the only corvette, at some point.

A Vette size car will need to achieve the currently mandated Corporate goal of 56 mpg in 2025 (perhaps it will reduce to ~50 mpg is my guess.) Big pushrod V8's can't get there! IMO a smaller lighter ME with a small cid turbo engine is essential. Other things like Start/Stop and probably a light weight F1 type KERS system to reduce energy use while accelerating from a stop and recovering some of the 1/3 wasted energy braking etc. Hopefully that combo versus all electric, or a large battery hybrid. There will be plenty of those in grocery getters. GM has no time to mess with an interim FE sports car!

In 2019 their very profitable Silverado that sells >550,000/year is already getting a 2.7 Liter turbo L4! It will have 320 hp but bet some of those macho truck owners aren't jumping for joy!

I think anyone thinking the base price is under $70,000 is in for a rude awakening. That, or they live in fantasy land
