ME is a CORVETTE
Some people STILL think the car we have been following is a CADILLAC and the ME will have a CADILLAC engine.
Haven't these comments proven to be false. I remember when the 4.2 (estimate) was shown and posts said it would be in the CORVETTE but the head of CADILLAC said NO it's a CADILLAC engine only. They got rid of that guy at GM so is it possible that the ME will get that engine?

The ZORA will be a very high performance, big bucks ME car. You will have to pay to get the name ZORA on your car. Other than that who knows?

I would guess a lot of corvette buyers are on the fence making a major purchase until we see this new model in the showroom. Sure would look bad buying a last fast model just months before the new toys are available.Even driving out the showroom we lose a ton of money so fast.

No doubt, there are fence sitters right now until the ME car is revealed. Once that happens, there will be a sizable chunk of potential buyers who will decide to go for a big discount on the C7 because they either like it better or the price is right. It wouldn't surprise me to see a significant uptick in C7 sales after the reveal and pricing announcements. Initially, the ME will not be discounted below MSRP, so a lot of folks will go for up to 20% or greater discounts on the C7.
Rational folks aren't concerned about it "looking bad," and anyone making buying decisions on a sports car for resale value reasons is running a fool's errand.

Well some of us like me saved a long time for one major toy purchase so money is important, we are not all well off , but do know where are next meal is coming from.
And would look like a bad decision buying an outdated version so close to a new version.

The point is the money you save by purchasing a deeply discounted model almost always more than offsets differences in resale value down the road. A far worse financial decision would be paying MSRP or greater for the new ME. However, buying a sports car is NEVER a wise financial decision, and that's not why so many of us do it. It's about enjoying life while we can.

I get the deep discount point but I'm just as sure the next buyer knows it also, and of course agree it's just a toy
not a financial plan. Most of my toys have been motorcycles but live in a new area with deer on every street so sold my bikes. Great forum, thanks.
I have always received deep discounts paying cash, even though they start by saying no discount.

I find that very comical too. What a terrible name, that was purely a magazine/internet creation. It could be an internal GM code name, which many car makers use. The C6 ZR1 carried the code name "Blue Devil" in honor of GM CEO at the time, Rick Waggoner's and my alma mater, Duke. The code names never become the actual model name.

This is spot on and why I picked up my like new 14' back in August. I was on the lookout for months and when the right car came along I picked it up and am not worrying one bit what happens with the new model. It's easy to get caught up in the speculation and hype which for some just prolongs the fence sitting and waiting. Meanwhile I am just going to be enjoying a really good sports car while the dust settles (and pricing settles) on the new version.
As for the C8, I hope it turns out great & that it will finally have a proper DCT. If so then hopefully in a few years, when all of the hype dies down, I can park one next to my M7 Z06.

Cars loaded with options usually depreciate a greater percentage than a "base" car. A 1LT coupe or convertible is probably going to retain a higher percentage of its original MSRP than any other model. Anyone who bought a loaded model at or near MSRP is going to take a real bath at resale especially if they trade in less than 5 years. That said, I have done this myself more than once. In my old age, I have learned to wait and defer my purchase until the madness of a new model wears off. I'm on the fence on the C8 and will be waiting to see how it is priced and marketed. A sticker north of $75K for a base model and I'll pass.

While all you guys are 'sitting on the fence' either deciding or waiting for the discounts to come, I intend to be having a GREAT time driving my C8 'vert' back and forth to Starbucks and Cars & Coffee for a couple of years. Maybe then I'll make you a deal on it as I move onto the next 'aspirational' model.....

I haven't seen a "Zora" name on any of the mules. GM would be foolish not to use the "Corvette" name IMHO.

Too have fun like most guys who buys a Corvette or. Lamborghini or Ferrari these are not daily drivers but just another toy which you drive and enjoy.
The old saying is you can't take it with you hold true!

Hello L98
interesting you should think that.
5 time Vette owner going back to a 74 L82 in 76. 4speed.
Read all the mags. Forum follower. The Bash, Carlisle, the BNA 50 yr party, Bloomington.
And have met a few very sourced in Chevy / Vette people over the years.
Ran into a Corvette savant in Marketing / Sales, 40 years with GM a few weeks ago.
My sense is that his forecast cannot be correct. But here it is.
The ME will be introduced (He did not know where but thought it will be DET) as a limited, high end Zora. Not a C8. A ME Zora.
The C7 will continue on with modest improvents for a few? more years and then morph in to a C8. He was unsure, but thought when the C8 finally arrives all 8's will be mid.
Thats it.
