The end of Stingray?
With a new clean sheet design certainly the car will need a new identity. Stingray has been identified with the FE forever and I think it should stay that way. 'Zora' may only be known to Corvette people. and I'm thinking the Zora name could take the place of ZR1 or used on a new high end track only model. 'Mantaray' doesn't seem to put the fear into anyone. 'Sideswipe' from Transformers is the wrong kind of scary. So do we wait and see what GM comes up with? Or what do you think would be a cool new identity for a new bad azz Vette?

Corvette Oxymoron.
For all the people who want an exotic supercar that is also mass produced, affordably priced, and sold by Chevrolet dealers.

I think Stingray may be around for a while with the base Corvette maintaining that nomenclature on the base C8.

I've always heard that the Corvette FE will still be made alongside of the mid engine.....

If the C7 is made along side the C8, having both with the name Stingray would be craziness.
The ME is the biggest single change in Corvette’s history in the last fifty years, and so IMO, they will want to make a clean break from any C7 model names.
And they trademarked Manta Ray and Zora around the world.

The C8 is rumored to be called the Chevy Jolt to provide a better brand identity by aligning with the current Chevy names Volt and Bolt.

GM has a history of bad names. Fiero. Aztek, Vega. Metro. Baretta, Custom Cruiser, Achieva, Tracker, Typhoon, and... El Camino? Really? A Mexican road? Bolt and Volt make no sense whatsoever. Completely confusing. Remember the "Impact". That guy should be shot.
Zora is pretty bad. I'm hoping its just a working internal project title. I'm sure GM has tested it. If they tested it here it pretty much would fail.

I agree, Corvette works.
I never use(d) the Stingray term, because base, Z51, GS, Z06, and ZR1 are more accurate descriptors. Base and Z51 (both Stingrays) are as different as the latter is to the GS, and so on.
I detest the name "Zora" and also believe it's more likely an internal project code name that got picked up by auto press and mushroomed on the internet. The world doesn't really care about who the early driving force of the Corvette was.

I guess I'm one of those who'd offer the counterpoint. I actually like the name Corvette Zora, and think if at least one of the ME variants isn't named that, somebody should be shot.

Fair enough, honestly I don't pay attention to model names other than Corvette, Mustang, 911, M3, etc. I do pay attention to performance specs. I really don't care what they call it other than Corvette, as long as they don't put a badge with his mug on it.
