Ummm yeah in the 60's & 70's! Last couple of decades Cadillac's were kind of ghetto and Cadillac is still trying to shed that image.

In normal base trim, I would rather have the Cadillac ME. In a high performance variant, Id take the Corvette.

Differences would probably just be sheet metal, more sound deadening, and better creature comforts. Just like Nissan/Infiniti, Toyota/Lexus, and Honda/Acura. They all redo the lower-tier models with those upgrades.

exactly, it has been done before so why get your knickers in a snit?

if cadillac put as much effort into all of its vehicles as it has in their best ones, they would be more successful. the cadillacs that i grew up on in the 50s and 60s were well built cars compared to far too many of the ones since then. you don't want a top of the line vehicle to feel like a cardboard box. it took many years for them to get that message, and hopefully they have by now.

Mercedes will still have the AMG GT coupe and roadster 2 seater sports cars and the new AMG GT 4 door sedan.

Must be some kind of market for them. Mercedes sells a lot of cars worldwide whereas Corvette and Cadillac sell very few cars worldwide. 90% of Cadillac and Corvettes sales are within the US borders.

Not exactly thinking outside the box here but the Cad can be the more luxurious, heavier, and more xpensive sports car. The Chevy will be lighter, faster, cheaper (but noisier), and more purist sports car that will dominate tracks.
