Default GT500 will be shown in Detroit But what about C8?

Ford has officially set the date for GT500 for Detroit Auto show, meanwhile GM hasn't even admitted that ME C8 exists yet.
Doesn't seem like we will see C8 in a month & half being shown.

What does a Mustang has to do with Corvette? That's a car that is still trying to catch up to the Camaro 1LE

And Hyundai announced a SUV as well and Audi announced an Electric Concept sedan and so on......what does that have to do with a Corvette?

They're both high end sport cars from two competing manufactures.
The point was to do with the manufacture revealing their product not Mustang vs. Corvette.

Its crazy to me that Ford has waited 4 years into the new body style of mustang to build a gt500. I was interested in it after I had my 15 gt but damn that's a long time to bring out the top level car in this day and age.

And here is the craziest part. They waited 4 years to come out with this car for 2020 and in 2021 that platform is deprecated by a new platform for Mustang. That means, you're buying a car in 2020 based an old platform which is replaced the following year. How smart is that?

Stop throwing stones in glass houses - isn't that exactly what GM did with the ZR1 - waited 6 model years before putting it on sale, only to be phased out when the 2020 C8 arrives! The ZR1 looks like a very profitable success and with its limited sales volume people aren't bitching about it being as vastly over priced as it is - which will allow GM to rinse and repeat the ZR1 model for the C8 in 6 years - just like it did for the C6 ZR1. If that is Ford's plan, I don't see it as wrong - hype when the current car's sales volume are in the toilet.

That's a fairly normal practice and "Model Management 101." GM waited 5 MYs to introduce the ZR1. Most every gen of everything starts with a base, and keeps upping the ante with more capable/expensive models every year or so to stimulate new sales. Near the end of a gen, the "uber dog" gets introduced.

The Corvette is a high-end sports car and the mustang is a mid-grade coupe and they're not competing with each other. That's the Camaro's job! There's been a lot of reveals this week including the Porsche 911 but none of them are going to be as big as an all new ME Corvette and GM knows that! I do agree that the sooner the better though!!

I agree completely, and was in the same boat. I honestly would have considered buying one, but that was years ago. ZL1 and the Hellcat have been out for years, while Ford has been taking thier sweet time. I was told by somebody who works for Ford that the GT500 was supposed to be twin turbo and half way through the development they had to switch to aa supercharger because they were having far too many problems with the motor and cold starts. Who knows if that's really true or not, either way sad it took them this long.

It's amazing how people are failing to grasp the point of the OP's post.

That's why I think GM will reveal the Mid Engine Corvette at the New York Auto Show. GM doesn't have to share the spot light with anyother manafactures and will be the talk of the show. Also GM revealed the first Corvette in New York and that is where Zoro first seen it.

There was nothing to grasp, and it simply stated the obvious. GM isn't ready or doesn't want to unveil the car yet, or in Detroit, or both, and all insider info points to NYC, which draws a lot more international press. It's old news now and discussed in dozens of threads here.

The final design is finished, and it's being shown to trusted GM partners. I know someone who has seen it, he was told NYC, and he won't say much more except that the vast majority will be very happy.

If the C8 is unveiled in NYC does GM have a particular showcase date set for their products? I have some family near there and was wondering so they can plan a day to be there for it. I would have them stream video to me if its allowed so I could get a first hand type experience if possible.

The Mustang has a new body style?
It has looked pretty much the same for 20 years.
