A lot of what I read makes sense... Manta Ray versus Stingray name, an enhanced LT1 engine with both port and direct injection making at least 500 HP and a DCT transaxle only. However, I do not believe Corvette is ever going to be it's own brand. So therefore, I believe he has some good guesses like many of us do.

Can we get to the important stuff like:
  1. will my grandparents be able to get in and out of the car?
  2. how many sets of golf clubs will it hold?

It's not like there's a bunch already built just sitting around
Plus there will be plenty of time to order a new CT6-V with that engine. Production doesn't end until the end of next year remember. It's not like the car is cancelled before production even starts.

Bottom line is he's more credible than you. If you don't like what he says that's a point in his favor. You're basically trolling the entire C8 section here.

At least this jives with the engine order data that was leaked and the cad drawings. But I am not holding my breath that it is factual.

Probably the same thing they(GM) did with all the 4.5L Hot V , TT 72 degree diesel V8's that they designed to fit inside the same size box that also fits the LS series gas engines, and tooled up 100% for that new engine, and then, lo and behold, cancelled. And that new engine was for their bread and butter pickup trucks, not a low volume hot rod Cadillac.

Possible that I overlooked it, but when I checked Cadillac's website a couple of days ago, I saw no mention of the 4.2L V8 engine being available in the current CT6.

Hellcat is supercharged, duh. The Dodge 6.4L makes 485 hp and 475 lb ft torque.
Also the hp-torque spread doesn't make sense: 520 hp & 485 torque when the current LT1 has only a 5 spread and Dodge has 10.
GM has never released actual numbers on engine performance until the actual reveal.

It is full of grammatical mistakes and cliches. Typical salesman or pr guy.

The CT6 V, which was supposed to get the Blackwing engine, will not be in production until next Spring. But it doesn't seem likely they will start production and then stop it quickly.

"If you donít believe me then thatís fine, I wouldnít either if I was in your shoes."
So now he is off the hook for any BS being spread. Got it.

"The C8 Corvettes at NŁrburgring are the real thing."
Did anyone not know this? Why is he telling us this?

"A DCT transaxle is used in all C8 Corvettes, no exceptions."
Everyone knows this too. What is the point?

"The R&D investment in the DCT is said to be equivalent to that of both the manual and automatic in the C7 - they knew they had one chance to get the DCT right."
This is a nonsense statement: GM spent basically nothing additional for the transmissions in the C7 and if they built a DCT like the A8, they did not get it right. Should have bought a Getrag and saved time and money.

Bottom Line: This guy is a PR person or salesman who has heard some rumors.
Dude, It's a car forum. So what if he's lying? What do they have to gain from lying to a forum full of strangers? Who else are we going to believe? Car and Driver has gone ***** nilly saying that the C8 will have a 5.5L flat-plane crank V8 and the majority of the car community believes it. They never provided a source or even evidence of any kind. Do those people care? We'll believe who/what we want to believe until GM officially announces information about the C8, or at least until somebody is dumb enough to share internal documents with the forum or a major publication.

It's almost Christmas time; have some spirit

My non supercharged C6 Z06 has 505 HP and 470 lbs-ft of torque, so 520 HP and 485 lbs-ft of torque does make sense.

Yeah, 7 Liters gets you 505 hp, which is not the same as 6.2, duh.

You would be much Better perceived in my option by Eliminating the "duh" from your posts when not agreeing..."duh" is rather condescending...Mark

Then lets take a look at a measly 327 cu in engine back in 1964 in the Corvette.

The base engine was 250 HP with 350 lb-ft of torque. The highest output engine(still 327 cu in) had 375 HP with 350 lb-ft of torque. Increased displacement in the 375 HP engine is not why the horsepower increased 125 HP while the torque remained the same, as both engines had the same displacement.

So when and where will the Manta Ray be revealed?

Why doesn't Mr. unlimitedPower have a clue when he knows so many other details?

Joe, please. We both know that horsepower was measured differently in 1964. There is no equivalence to the numbers today. Why are you trying to BS me?

I hear ya, PCMIII, and if you're anything like me, age is "zapping my patience". But with age and youngins' that learn from us older "wise" folk...well, you know where I'm going.
