I'm really beginning to not GAFF about the C8 anymore. GM can't get their schit together, they want to keep the public in the dark (surprise surprise) and it's getting to be long in the tooth. If GM actually GAF about the people who love Corvettes they would've said/done something by now instead of keeping everybody in the dark.

The lack of knowledge about or interest in Corvette forums mirrors the same levels of interest in Corvette racing. I find this to be especially evident among C7 owners as for many this is their first 'Vette and they don't have the owner history like those of us who have driven one since we were in our 20's. (I'll be 69 in Jan.) No offense to them, as they have purchased their 'dream car', but they look at it from a different perspective from those of us who have owned many generations of the marque.

Those charts really aren't relevant at this point. Interest will be off the high end of that scale after unveil and through the first year of sales, perhaps beyond. "Normal" people don't develop much interest in products that are yet to be revealed.

- They leaked the whole car with camo on it
- They leaked a night video of the C8.R driving around
what exactly else should they provide given the car is not ready to be announced? Even with the C7 they didn't announce pricing till much later (was it April/May?)

I'm saying the interest level right now is not relevant to the ultimate success of the car in the market. I think GM is playing this very smart. Don't promise anything you can't deliver in timely fashion. Don't even talk about it. Just ask Elon Musk.

That is true. The reveal will likely see the trend chart climb up steeply. I suppose we can also conclude that the 'rumor' posts and lack of Official news from GM to the media has not generated high levels of 'buzz' like Elon is so adept at. If GM wants to keep it quiet and wow the world at the release, nothing wrong with that. The corvette community is chomping at the bit, though. The car biz is really old and set in it's patterns. Elon blew all of that 'accepted wisdom' out of the water. It might not hurt for GM to test float a simlar news release / Tweet / etc. Juuussssstttt to see what happens. The competitors already likely know what GM is going to put out so.... what would it hurt to do so?
.
For that matter, why don't we see any Corvette / commercials. Porche does fewer of them but they are still out there. They could even tout how it's, in A8 form, the most American car (sports or otherwise) buy content. They could use that right about now.... Matter of Fact, GM should just hire me. I'd take care of it for them.

And Elon came within a gnat's eyelash of crashing Tesla. He's still not out of the woods.

Only one in two Corvette owners know there even are Corvette forums. And of those that know, only half of them are even on a forum even for a short while. And of those who visit a Corvette forum, most dot no choose to join. Of those who actually join a Corvette forum, they check it out, but then spend very little time on it; actually join a forum to learn how to dealt with a specific issue, e.g., how do I get to my C7’s battery or how do I change my cabin air filter.
I was at a large Corvette show this past June, and many did not have an inkling that a mid engine is coming, and even now, probably 80%, maybe 90% of Corvette owners who are planning to soon get another one, are sure they will have a chance at buying a FE C8.
Foosh is absolutely correct that what is occurring here is not representative of the Corvette world. Not even remotely.

So there is an entire world of Vette owners blissfully unaware of the things we all worry about.

That's 1 way to perceive it. Another perspective could be that if it were anyone other than Elon, Tesla would have crashed... Who else in the 'accepted car biz' mold could have kept Tesla going this long?
.
Tesla seems to be ok on the Automobile front right now. It will need to grow the other business, ultimately, to stay in business I think. By the way, there isn't ONE GM product on this list:

Really don't understand the frustration with these types of posts. I get all details are not known, but they have been giving out controlled leaks
- They leaked the whole car with camo on it
- They leaked a night video of the C8.R driving around
what exactly else should they provide given the car is not ready to be announced? Even with the C7 they didn't announce pricing till much later (was it April/May?)

Tell me, is there going to be a front engine Corvette sold along side the ME? How much for the ME? When is the ME going to go on sale? We all know that GM brass follow C8 Gen, they are well aware of the hundreds of questions being asked by eager followers of the Corvette and this dullards can't even release info on the most basic of information that wouldn't hurt the release or give anything of importance away to the competition. Why can't they even say when the ME will debut? This to me sounds like a company who really isn't in touch with it's loyal customer base.

Oh please . . . to me that implies utter chaos, which is certainly not the case here.
