Interesting. Seems to validate what came out yesterday, describing the GT Corvette:

The patent was filed in 2016, the same year the Opel GT concept came out. This is likely not for corvette since it exactly matches the Opel's badge.

Yup it was out of Germany..

One thing I did find was Brake-by-wire system - https://patents.justia.com/patent/10144402

Here is the list of patents - GM Global Technology Operations LLC. has a lot of interesting stuff . Not sure if relates to C8 - https://patents.justia.com/assignee/...operations-llc

As stated and pointed out in the bogus manta ray thread the GT emblem/logo was for the 2016 Opel GT concept, it is not something new and may not have anything to do with Corvette.

Date of US Trademark: Oct. 2nd, 2018

The GT and GS thing DOES make sense.......other makers have been packaging cars like that for YEARS

Donít think it can be a patent on a logo design. Trademark yes. Patent no.

.., unless the logo transforms into some cool robot of course...

There is a special type of patent called a "design patent" that is used for patenting the shape of something.

thanks. I am aware. Not that it matters since it seems to be from an Opel GT. But , I have applied and own many design patents. Utility as well.
Very unusual if this is a design patent. No reason I can see. A trademark would be more likely IMO. Like this, as a design patent, it could “only” be used as seen as a 3d form. A 2d printed version would not be protected as far as I know.

if I’m not mistaken, there are some patent attorneys on the forum. Maybe they can chime in. Very curious

… Unless of course they have it trademarked as well.

As a design patent, the protection is not very strong. If you change one of the angles or make a portion of it just a little different in shape it would not be considered the same By the USPTO and you could use it.

I also have many utility and design patent awards, as well as numerous trademarks. I deal with patent and trademark attorneys in my business regularly and based on my experience firstvettesoon is right on the money with this post.

Well, we can bicker over patent expertise, but this appears to be just another C8 dead end. Now, if only we could dispel some of the other ridiculous rumor mongering.
