As an 80s kid I'd take the Countach all day long, but I do understand what you mean.

The stunning design when it first came out, or the one that hid its beauty under wings, scoops, vents, federalized bumpers etc? I hated that thing then and even more now! But then, I’m a 60’s-70’s kid

Two analogies: (1) Lambo Miura vs. later model Countach and (2) 1961 Lincoln Continental vs. 1969 Lincoln Continental. I would argue that looking at them TODAY, in both cases, the simpler and more elegant styling looks much better and more “timeless.
The Countach is the best looking car in history in my opinion. The C7 will not fare so well. It has its following sure, but it is the most controversial Corvette generation in recent history with just as many detractors as fans. The taillight design is reminiscient of Camaro, love it or hate it, and that will hurt it in the long run. It is not it's own. And the front end is kinda boring, not ugly, just not overly unique or interesting. The new ZR-1 adds a lot of bumps trying to make it more interesting but it ends up looking like a hot wheel that a 5 year old would drive. The C7 sales numbers back up the lack of public interest. Combine all that with the cooling issues and its rep falls a bit.

But the C6 won't fare so well either. The C6 is largely a reskin of the C5 and the C5 was a revolutionary icon when it came out. Arguably, 1997-2000 was peak Corvette popularity. Sales have been declining since. Somewhere down the road look for the 1997 cars to be popular. Maybe the C6 ZO6 and ZR-1. As far as C4s, they made soooo many. Look for the Callaways and ZR-1s to steal the thunder on those, followed by convertibles.

More nonsense. The C7 has far more fans than detractors. It will go down in history as one of the best and most innovative Corvette designs.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and probably haven't spent enough time in the C7 section to realize you are a member of a distinct minority. It's one of the most active and positive car forums I've ever participated in.

This thread might be counted as evidence of the aging Corvette customer base, because some of you are obviously blind.

Maybe your eyesight isn't that bad, but your aging brains just simply 'must' not like whatever you see. Don't forget to take your antidepressants before posting.

Those cars look nothing alike. They do use similar vinyl for the camouflage.

LOL, saying the Countach is the best looking car in history says it all.... after that statement, everything else is basically invalidated.

Not sure why you are in a tizzy. The worst thing I said about the C7 was that the front is boring. Everything else is factual. If you don't like the Countach, ok, that's fine. It is one of the most iconic cars in history and probably more posters have been made of that car than any other, but ok, if you don't like it...

nice curves never go out of style and are timeless.
Tech will always get dated so thats a non starter.
but hey some people always think the latest is the greatest, and to them I say whatever.
Hell. I pretty much decided my next car/toy is likely a viper gts... yeah it might be almost 2 decades old, but man, once again, great curves are timeless.

Being on posters hanging on kids' walls is not the definition of what makes a car timeless or the best looking. It was space age looking at a time when that was all the rage. If you look at any poll of the best looking cars in history, I don't think it even makes the top 10.

I'm not saying I don't like the car, but there are literally dozens of cars that look a million times better than it.

you dont know that, no one does. It will be interesting to see how this last decade of transformer inspired cars will be regarded in 20 years.

I loved Gen 2s as a kid and started shopping RT-10s and the fronts just look so dated. Now the Gen V cars... if they made one in a convertible (yes I know Prefix made like 2 of them) I wouldn't be a Corvette owner anymore.

Agreed, I thought the Countach looked hot in it's day, but today I think it looks like a hot mess.

No the worst thing you said is that the C7 design has far more detractors than fans, which was a ridiculous statement. And folks are right in saying we can't possibly know how it will stand the test of time, but my gut tells me it will do well, and up there with C1-3.
