C8.R video - testing at Sebring

I've seen first hand the vibration concerns of the big flat plane crank V8 and what can happen with respect to the GT350 and it wasn't a pretty ending.

it’s a v6.... with turbos..... I had a feeling that’s what it would sound like. Chevy is following the trend... nsx.... v6 turbo, Ford gt...v6 turbo. The ford gt was designed to win the class, that’s why it has a v6. The 5.5 l v8 in the c7r was limited like crazy to meet racing class rules.... the rules give advantages to v6 motors... the c8r has a v6....look, go to YouTube and and watch clips of the IMSA nsx and gt.... they sound the same.

It would not be the driving factor in the decision to use a TT V6 in the street car, but it would make IMSA homologation easier. It's also more advantageous in the GTLM class to go small displacement, forced induction because the rules are now more favorable. Large displacement, naturally-aspirated engines will soon be an extinct species in organized racing.
If that proves to be the case, the driving factor would be compliance with increasingly tighter fuel economy requirements, and avoiding draconian gas guzzler penalties in high performance vehicles.

For those that do not know, F1 now uses a 1.6L V6 turbo hybrid that puts out well above 900hp.

Does IMSA regulate mileage or do they simply restrict the amount of fuel that each car can carry as part of the BoP adjustments?

I was holding off for next summer to grab a 2016 Z06 A8 with stage 3 aero package...but I may just wait a little longer to see what Chevy does with the ME C8. If it is a V-anything (I prefer the flat crank V-8 option) with a DCT and turbo's, I am in...a few years after depreciation of course. Trade the Old Viper in.

Because IMO, BMW acted like a spoiled child and said that if they can not get that exemption, “we are taking our marbles and going home.”
Conversely, Doug Fehan is conversely a class act, doesn’t play those games, instead welcomes competition even if we have to race “uphill” — with others getting advantages we do not have.

Whatever happens with the C8, Doug has got a lot of CHITS to play if any other maker cries foul on some aspect of the C8.R

Guys it's the C8.R not some modified semi production C8 that Pratt and Miller are tuning on. They don't start with a slightly modified production car and work from there. They build the car to the GTLM/GTE rules period.

I'm getting Blue ***** just hearing that exhaust note, release the beast already. This anticipation is killing me. Vette for life. I Loved the old and I know I'll love he new. I'm 52 and don't feel a day older than 32 change is what keeps me young.

History shows what happens to those who can't "keep up" with the times.

Looking at the median age of Corvette owners (60), it's easy to see why it is so: we old people don't like change.
