Yeah, it can be bad for durability/longevity. The secondary harmonics don't play well with larger displacement V8s. The Ford guys are currently taking a bath on their FPC Mustangs as the engines are dropping prematurely - it's gotten to the point it has significantly reduced market value of those rigs.

If the leaked engine forecast is correct and there are three engines planned for the street rig: 6.2l smallblock, 4.2l TT and 5.5l TT - the first one is a non-issue as it will have a CPC. The second, could be a candidate due to its displacement, but I wouldn't want a FPC anywhere near the 5.5 mill.

GM needs to get this rig right - and that includes engine durability/longevity. Playing with a FPC - particularly in the 5.5 is a fool's errand.

By the way, there isn't anything inherently sexy about a FPC. It's just different. Ford marketers had a ball with it, to be sure. But, they didn't bother to tell folks that inline 4 cylinders are FPC, you can find hundreds of thousands of FPC V6s in minivans, and every bicycle I've seen has a FPC.

I want a bullet-proof mill. Not a marketing gimmick.

Thanks to you and Tool Hoarder!

Very interesting info. I hope they did the smart thing...

Comment away. This will be my only post in this thread. lol
Good lord, that is an awesomely sexy automobile. And amazing it shares the same basic design cues with the C8 but the proportions are hugely different.

Editing it into a loop and playing it over and over and over and over and over...

Agreed, same car. However, notice that the take behind the driver's side window has been replaced. What is hidden there?

There is a piece of camo wrap taken off the side of the side window in these new images. In the old shots, part of the window has wrap on it. In the new shots, it's gone. Maybe 2 to 3 inches wide at the back of the window, running top to bottom.

I'm not so sure the C7.R will be used all season.
If the 2020 IMSA series is the debut of the C8.R, they have started this shakedown of the car very VERY early.
I have to wonder if it will introduced after the April(?) reveal of the street car.

Any insights?
Agreed.
Doesn't make sense seeing the C8.R on-track this far in advance.

It could appear in the 3rd quarter of 2019 at WEC events, but they can't make it for IMSA, which is very important to GM and the US market. With the first IMSA event (Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona) happening in a little over a month, they have to commit to the C7R. Changing horses in mid-season means you start over points-wise.

In addition, I'm not sure what we saw at Sebring is actually the C8R. It may be testing of the street car with a hot engine by Pratt & Miller as they ramp up development of the C8R. Doug Fehan is already on record that they'll campaign the C7R throughout the 2019 season.

I get it and agree that it would be weird to not have a V8. But would you have a problem if the new C8 had a V10? (I know it doesn't)

Yes... V10 just isn't a Corvette to me.

yes. Rear of the main side window. Camo is now is at the window edge. Earlier it was overlapping a few inches as you said. But the side Q window shape is the same. May not be a window at all.

Sorry, typo. The tape behind the driver's side glass is different. The tiny window. New tape versus the prior image of the car.

Now that I look at it again, some of the window tape has been removed rather than replaced. A handle or something is visible where the tape was.
