We all saw the issues the Ford GT GTLM cars had in their first year. They seemed to have a mechanical failure every race, and I think that it’s because they rushed it into the series. They had it racing well before the GT started production. Pratt and Miller doesn’t want that to happen with the C8.R, and it won’t. Expect to see the full thing in race livery at Le Mans, but it won’t race until the Rolex 24 in 2020.

A buddy just arrived at Sebring for a weekend of racing. A certain car is still there.

Aren't you just hoping, and maybe even suspecting, that the camo'd street C8's are actually hiding something close to this? Obviously it won't sit as low, but there's stuff I'm seeing that tells me that you have been WAY too pessimistic...

If for no other reason than the C7R really does look like a GS or Z06; proportions and all...I would think GM wants that same family resemblance to be strong as possible in the next gen as well.

I assume they are not driving at full steam but they appear to be putting down a 1:07 lap time on the short course unless the footage is edited. If that is the short course, this car is flying as this configuration does not favor high HP cars and is very technical.

Sure sounds to me like the driver is seriously pedaling it!

The C8R looks really good and this really should be the normal road car. The renders of what we currently believe is the road car is a bit tamed and looks a bit too similar to the C7. The general profile looks like the C7 pushed in from the front a bit and stretched from the rear.

i dont see this. The c8R and Ring renders are almost identical. Slight nose/ grill and lower ground effects are different but the rest of the upper care is the Same. Even the scoop may be the same. Other than the wing and “overly” wide rear fenders which don’t particularly look good. The car is the essentialy the same.

What I'm saying is, both the C8R and the road car have a similar profile as the C7. That angular rear quarter panel is very similar to the C7 and from a glance of the profile, they look similar with just the front being a bit shorter and the rear being a bit longer.

You may have missed that the front fender of the C8R is also wider and has a vent that makes it look more aggressive while the road car's front fenders are narrower and plain. The rear diffuser is also very aggressive while the road version is very tamed. I'm hoping the road version will be very close to the C8R because if you are going ME, might as well go all out exotic. These seemingly minor differences amount to a whole different feel. Everyone sees styling differently and this is just my opinion, I don't expect you to agree.

136 posts and a lot of interesting feed back? Sounds like the C8 is either going to be I love or I hate it because a real Corvette isn't a Mid engine car? Then we have the V6 vs V8 debate and if GM ever puts a V6 Turbo in the Corvette well that will send buyers running away? What are some of you going to do when the C9 or C10 is total electric? Not to turn this into a political discussion but the government and EPA dictates the rules for manufactures. Weather we like it or not the government is pushing everybody into making total electric cars and the time is coming sooner than later!!!

Thatll be a very short period because everything will go completely autonomous shortly after imo. I don't care it's a V6 but I wouldn't want he thing loud and obnoxious then. To me V6s don't sound good loud. Some 4 cylinders do sound very nasty though. The configuration is the important part.
