Meanwhile, again, thank you for being the only GM Chariman/CEO to have the courage and the conviction to turn the GM battleship around, so it is thriving decades from now.

Being in charge often has really ugly things one must do, even things that are really painful. Thanks for taking GM in ways that are necessary for the long run.
Oh yeah, and thank you for shipping all those jobs out of the US and to Mexico.

Mary,

Please just name the new C8, Corvette. Nothing silly or complicated. No fish or revered engineers. Just Corvette. And, if you don’t mind me asking, please ignore any whining you hear about engines transmissions, or even taillights, but ensure that the Chevrolet Corvette remains America’s Sports Car.

Thanks!

I agree... why does it need a name? Corvette, done. Then you have the Grand Sport and Grand Tour and then the Zora for the ultimate "full kill" version.

Losing the manual as an option would be a shame, I drive one, but let's look at reality, 70-80% of owners buy auto's the 20% that want manuals and say they might walk away from buying a ME GM doesn't care, they will make up the 20%, and then some lost with the new buyers that will be attracted by the new ME design. Also let's face it it's not about just one option or feature that attracts us to buying a Corvette it's the overall package. When you buy a house you never get everything you want in the end you compromise and buy the house that meets most of you needs. You may hate the fact that no manual is offer but if the car is as as good as we hope it is you will cave in rather then sit on the sides lines knowing that the overall package is beautiful. You will compromise......

I will also suck it up even though it will be my first DD in ~60 years that is not a standard shift. A DCT is a modern efficient way to deal with Start/Stop and that will be followed at some point by something similar to the F1 KERS so the engine does not have to start until you reach ~cursing speed for normal driving. And when driving in anger that extra ~150 hp for 5 or 6 seconds will be fun! At least it isn't what I was concerned they would use, their own 10 speed "slushbox." That would have me change brands.

Also agree it will be a much lower entry price than some of the foolish speculation!

We'll get used to whatever name as we did the none round taillights!

Mary is doing what needs to be done for the rapidly changing automotive landscape! I'll love that 4.2 Liter 550 hp, double overhead cam twin turbo Blackwing engine! Whatever variant is comes in, I'll buy!

Ojm,

I am very sorry to hear that! I will pass this onto my CAMARO team and hopefully they can meet your standards on your next purchase!

Sincerely,
Mary B.

However, I'm not sure I'm going to be willing to "suck it up" right away if it's DCT only, which will almost certainly be the case initially. I tried very hard to love both the PDK in a 911 and the outstanding ZF8 in my Jaguar F-Type, which I perceived to be equally great. Both produced equally fast and smooth up- and down-shifts, but I just couldn't love them nearly as much as a traditional manual. There's something about the 3rd pedal and the gearshift action I just get off on. That's ultimately what brought me back to Corvette and my 14 and 18 C7s, both M7s.

Thus, I will sadly be waiting to see if GM reconsiders and adds a manual option later. On the other hand, I may not be totally deprived of the new ME because my wife is very interested, and as a sports car enthusiast like myself, she loves the C8 renders, and the timing should be just right when she's ready for her next car.
So true about the third pedal, and I can care less if it is slower. Heck, even the new 911 Carrera S will be offered in a manual in a few months (Porsche Doppelkupplungs first), if no C8 manual I'm out Mary, simple as that..
