last years corvettes sold 22k units and this year at the end ofov we are at 17400 units ...with just december to go...its doubtful corvette will sell 20units for 2018 calender year...?
if the story line of 20k c7 units unsold and inventory...why would gm produce morein calender year 2019?
maybe a light quick runto scatter the dealer jetwork amd then put cash on the hood to move the rumored 20k units in inventory from previousyears...
i was shocked when I read 20k units of unsold inventory..
at current sales rates thats a 365 day supply...optimum being 60 day supply..
all that said gm will probably have a quick short production run...but none of us know..
btw gm authority is run by nice kids who know about as much as you and me...
same for jalopnik and half the other bloging news site..
gm officially has said nothing.,.
so we know nothing...
no press conference planned at the detroit show...doesnt mean squat....
many european manufacturers dont even enter the shows and they just have events and oress conferences at nearby hotels...
gm could be doing that with the corvette too?

Yawn, this is getting very old. Such folks need to grow up. If they were to show something now, then we'd have a herd whipped into hysteria about why it's not being produced right away.
Who the hell wants a rushed debut if GM is not ready to mass produce the car? The worst possible disaster would be new cars showing up at dealers with all kinds of issues.

Lets not forget last time with the C7
- where can I get a car at MSRP
- Why is my order stuck in Status Code XXXX
- Why is my car delayed, sitting at storage lot in the midwest
- my tires are cracked on delivery
and on, and on...

It's nice of GM to let the new GT500 have a few minutes in the performance car spotlight unless Team Camaro has a surprise counter offering at the ready for NAIAS. There have been rumors of a LT5 Camaro mule running around...

c7 inventory is really quite high with suggestions running close to 20k c7 units on dealer lots etc.,,

Same with YTD sales- how many 2019's and how many 2017-2018?
The prices I'm seeing for new C7's don't suggest any panic selling by dealers. Strange. Floor plan starts to cost money.
If the inventory is really that high, some possible reasons:
C8 allocations will be based on 2018 C7 orders, and dealers think the C8 will be a hot seller, or
Dealers have received incentives from GM (that we may not know about) to order lots of C7's, or
There will be enough delay between the end of C7 production and the start of C8 production, dealers want something to sell during that time, or
Dealers simply goofed and overestimated C7 demand for this year, or
Dealers are worried that the C8 will be a sales dud and they want plenty of "older but better" C7's to sell, or
The speculation and excitement about the C8 have killed the market for new C7's.
Or some combination of the above and other unknown factors.
