Default C8 convertible

Do you think there will be a C8 convertible available in the near future or at any time?

Yes, though only as a hard top convertible. Maybe GM will call it a “Spyder” are the euro-exotics call their removable hard top ‘verts. Rendering thanks to FVS.

One of the test mules running around looks to be a hard top convertible.

That's NOT a convertible.

Agree. For some reason looking at all the C8 renders/guesses, if that is indeed the design of the production 'convertible' then that escaped me. Hopefully a 'true' convertible is in the offerings.

Other angles show it will be. It’s not a targa and there’s no rear window when the top is retracted. What you see are more like faired headrests. One could quibble, of course, but it should be much more open than today’s targas...

Yes, that is factually the HT convertible; we know this because the mini window behind the B pillar is smaller on the convertible — as shown.

As to the debate as to whether that is a convertible on a second plane (feelings about it), as you notice, I stay out of those kinds of discussions.

Here is another view with the HT down, however now from a front quarter view.. Again, thank you FVS.

I think some would like a switch to convert from front engine to mid engine and back.

I’d buy that in a heartbeat! It heavily resembles the epitome of a Spyder Sportster: the Ferrari 488. However even at the elevated estimates of it’s potential tariff, it will be a veritable bargain compared to that car’s $385k and up price.

grotesque? Then I guess you must not like any other spider offered from Ferrari or McLaren either, because it retains the same general profile and characteristics.

In 1968 GM made a Corvette coupe and a Corvette convertible. When I took the tops off my 69 coupe and removed the vertical rear window glass the car looked just like the rendering of the so-called convertible rendered above.

It was in no way the same as the 1969 Convertible that was offered.

It will be much like the Ferrari and McLaren Spiders.

A “true” convertible with nothing rising above the belt line except the windshield is prob not possible for a Hi performance “supercar”. It’s not a boulevard cruiser. ; )

Thank goodness for all the 'convertible/spider haters'!!! The line in front of me for mine just got shorter......

I’d be cool with that as long as long as it doesn’t look too bulbous behind the passengers.
