This is why the C8 needs AWD more than more HP or Torque

AWD does seem to add a lot of performance even tho it is not "traditional" . Manual trans, and front engine - rear wheel drive sports cars are fun fun fun but have increasingly hard time keeping up with the best AWD ME cars. The 911 TS with AWS also adds a great deal of added performance and driveability. Trade off is complexity and cost. Something else to break, but for those who want or need to best of the best regardless of cost or durability/maintenance costs...these features are hard to beat.

Same car for same car, awd will launch harder but should trap slower because of added weight and driveline losses. Awd will track better. Now to watch the video and see if I'm correct.
Edit: Exactly what I said.

750HP is useless if you can't put it to the pavement.
Past 500hp, traction is way more important than power.
I had a 2007 550hp supercharged Mustang GT with a 4.10 rear before I had the vette. It was wicked quick, except when I tried to run street tires at the drag strip, I could barely pull low 12's because I couldn't get traction Wouldn't grip in 1st gear at all at any RPM range above 2500. As soon as I got some sticky tires, my trap speed went up by only 1 mph on average, but my E.T. improved by a full second, running low 11's.
AWD would be awesome if it wasn't unavoidably heavy.
Going mid-engine is going to improve the traction quite a bit. The McLaren 720S seems to have mostly solved the RWD traction issue, it launches hard out of the hole.

More weight over the rear = more on tires and presumably better traction. Again though, same for same the same car with awd at about the same weight should still launch better and should be faster around a track. But in a perfect world it more or less comes down to the driver.
I prefer RWD but awd definitely has benefits you can not get around. Power to all four corners while going around a turn is nothing to laugh at, it should, when properly set up, corner harder. But again, reality is a cruel bitch and there are a multitude of factors that come into play.

If you need launch traction on the street , you are not driving in a safely manner. It used to be that launch control was the driver behind the wheels..

Anyone who is against an AWD Corvette is simply close-minded.
As HP/TQ wars are constantly pushing the envelope, either get on board or be left behind.
There is only so much a RWD car can do.
And a side note, this guy talks just to hear himself talk.

I have come to the conclusion, as with many things in life, there are just some people that like to be stubborn and do not want to move forward. Not only do they not want to move forward, they simply do not have a reason not to move forward. They want to impede progress for the sake of being a PITA. This goes for business, politics, and the Corvette!

AWD is for SUVs and wives; RWD is for real Sportscars.
And it still takes a REAL man to drive one fast.
The day Corvette loses RWD will be the last day I care about the brand.

The Lambo alway felt completely tame and under control and definitely had understeer issue. Almost impossible to have a slight bit of oversteer and get the car some what side ways
The 458 handles much better and does not have that same understeer as the Lambo. If your brave enough to turn off TC it will allow you to have rear end step out and still have a fair degree of control.
As far as horsepower the C7 is maxed out. My SC 757 with 757 hp is more than the chassis can handle and that make the car a handful even with all the nannies left on.
Frankly I never had the courage to turn them off in my Callaway as the chassis seems eager to kill me at any moment.
So adding more power to a C7 is worthless in my opinion as you can put all that horse power down .

AWD ruins the "fun" of HP RWD.... no burn outs, no power slides or drifting... and no wheelies! ; )
These cars (MEs) are all about track. All around driving and AWD makes good drivers better...safer. Maybe removes some of the "fun" but not everyone can handle the power with just 2 wheels.
Watching ME or supercars drag race is fun and gives a nice comparison but IMO just about any dedicated drag racer would smoke a $300k plus supercar in a true drag race. They just aren't made for that. ( unaltered from the dealer) But try taking one of those pro stock cars to Nurburgring! A Prius could probibly beat its time.
All around driving experience should be great with the C8. Easier to drive and "enjoy" IMO.

Having owned both a Lamborghini Gallardo with AWD and now a 458 which is rear wheel only I can say that the 458 is more fun to drive.

I have driven a 458 and a Murcielago around a track.
The 458 is a driver's dream and the Lambo would go into understeer at the drop of a hat...I frickin' hated the thing.
