I stopped in to Ferrari of Tampa Bay this past Saturday...They had a Showroom full of cars...I asked how much the 488 Red Spyder was...his reply was: “Low $300s”.
It was a subtle reminder that beauty and performance do not come CHEAP...

I am am hoping the new C8 will be a beauty and perform...second wish is that it will be affordable.

Hoping to to see the real car soon...P.S. The 488 Spyder was a beauty!

Happy New Year Folks!

All mid-engine sports cars have a common "look" given the chassis configuration needed to support the engine/drivetrain layout. Hopefully this car won't be revealed, only to have people say "oh no, it looks just like XYZ". It's going to share alot of the "look" other cars like this have. Hopefully there will be sufficient attention to details to give the C8 some unique design elements.

Styling cues from the 488 don't bother me one bit. I am confident, however, that the final product will be distinctively Corvette.

Do you mean like a hood that is 3" too high so that GM can call the C8 a Grand Touring car and so the frunk can fit 2 sets of golf clubs?

FUGLY!!!

One reason that all these mid-engine cars all look similar is simple aerodynamics. It's the same reason bullets, fighter jets and rockets do as well so why is anyone surprised?

Where did you see one? I've seen some pictures of cars padded with camo, and I've seen some renders, but I've never seen the actual car.

I agree I would love to see shots without the camo as well.

GM seems in no hurry for this to happen anytime soon....

Does anyone really think that GM would put actual production body panels on test mules, camouflaged or not? CFD models will predict with high accuracy the aero effects of these bits. We'll just have to wait to see if we get a 90's NSX or a home run for the long anticipated ME 'vette.

I agree that all the ME cars have a common design/look due to aero principles. If the C8 doesn't have some unique elements in the design it will get lost among others. It may come with a lower entrance fee and almost equal performance to others, but if it's a "me too" look it may alienate some traditional Corvette buyers. Since none of us have seen the actual finished product this is all speculation, but a concern. The next few months ought to be interesting as more details become finalized. My biggest question on the styling is what's the deal with the 'air scoops/intakes' ahead of the rear wheels where apparently the uppermost portion sticks out from the body. It appears that they are a part of the door, resulting in the door having a large protrusion at the rear of it and not just a flat door skin. Maybe this is just not clear on the camo'd cars, but any added width when opening doors is not something I want.

More like a Ferrari F430 with NSX scoops glued on and a Camaro rear end.

Interesting observation.
I need to see it with the camo off before making a determination.

From what we can see, I totally agree. Some people on here say "It looks like a Ferrari, no thanks..."

I say, it looks like a Ferrari! Hooray!

exactly, People pay for Ferraris and McLarens for a reason, they are works of art. All good artist steal and borrow from other great artists. Corvette would be nuts not too. I sure hope the mule had fake parts on it, cause as is, I'm not liking what I'm seeing, but to each their own.

This.

If I could make a rational case for a Ferrari, I would buy one in an instant.
They are the exotic I most lust after...

I see several different cues of other cars in the mules, but then when was the last time we saw a new model of any car that was radically different from any other car on the road? It does not occur as frequently as it might have in days past.

I also suspect that it will follow the same evolution as the C6 and C7, the first model that we see will look much better in the higher performance "Z06" or "Grand sport" or whatever the heck they call it that comes later.

The bottom line is none of us have any idea what this car will look like so there is absolutely no way anyone can say if it resembles one car or another.
