Porsche is just one brand as part of Volkswagen. Not an apples to apples comparison. Compare conglomerate automakers versus sub-brands under those automakers.

Please ignore PCM. He tosses out the factoid that Porsche sold 57K vehicles in the US and conveniently fails to mention that 35K of those were SUVs, and 8K of those were 4-door sedans. That's a total of 43K family haulers out of 57K sales. That's his MO.

C7s still outsold Porsche sports cars in 2018 by a wide margin primarily because of affordability. See the link in post #39.

I wonder what account name Zerv02 will post under after there is no reveal at the NAIAS?

They've done quite a bit. The sales drop-off is perfectly normal and happens with every generation. GM has always wanted shorter runs. The C7 will have 6 model years (2014-2019) if the 2020 is the C8 which is ideal. The C4 went way way way long (read All Corvettes Are red) as the C5 was supposed to be a 1993 model. The C5 went 8 years and then the C6 went an extra few years because of the GM bankruptcy. Supposedly the C7 was supposed to come in 2010-2011. When GM got out of BK there were rumors that the C7 was a "stop gap" warmed over C6 while GM focused on a more radical C8. Reality is the C7 is a very nice evolution of the C5/6 platform and GM did a great job with the budget they had. The car has been a success... so the 6 year run to the C8 makes sense. Many thought it would be 4-5 max, but the sales success of the Z06/GS (offering all models in auto and vert options) has kept it on longer.
Reading comprehension is not your strong point as the 1st paragraph clearly states NO UPDATE to exciting models.

The Stringray model of coupes and converts are the same in 19 as they were in 14 same exact engine and body.

The 15 Z06 again was a new model in 15 and other than GM attempt to fix the over heat issue in 17 it is exact he same model in 19 as it was in 15

Grand Sport new MODEL in 16 is the same as 19.

ZR1 19 same with what was delivered in 18.

So NO C7 EXCITING CORVETTE MODEL HAS RECEIVED ANY BODY AND OR ENGINE UPDATES that was different from the original model when released .

Maybe a slight whiff of a bone in Detroit ...
Some sort of acknowledgement of this next revolutionary Corvette...
As for zerv02...well ...he’s putting himself in a position ,to actually be receiving “the Bone”
Official reveal won’t be there .

Lets make zerv02 threads great again.

This is "telling" IMHO. I'm adjusting my "belief" to the belief we'll hear something official from GM in the next 1-3 months.

Of the 57,202 units Porsche sold in the US in 2018, 34,237 were SAV/SUVs. 8K were 4-door sedans (Panameras).

2018 US Porsche Sales

Despite dramatic sales drops due to sagging interest and market saturation, C7s still outsold Porsche sports cars by a wide margin, because it beats Porsche by a wide margin on price. I've said it many times, but it bears repeating that the market for what are essentially 2-seat sports cars is very limited.

Porsche thrives on SAV/SUV sales.
GM, as well as Porsche, sells their vehicles WORLDWIDE.. With the Corvette, US sales represent about 90% of the TOTAL Corvette sales WORLDWIDE..

WORLDWIDE, Porsche 2017 sales are 246,375. I have not seen the 2018 sales breakdown but Porsche says they are higher than 2017 sales.

911 sales 32,197
911 production 33.820

Boxster/Cayman sales 25,114
Boxster/Cayman production 26,427

In 2017 the 911 and Boxster/Cayman sales averaged 4,778 per month.

EXACTLY right.

The C8 will go into production this year.
It makes sense to show it at the NAIA.
Particularly when you think about all the negative news GM has had lately.
They need a shot in the arm of good publicity.
IMO, this alone would be enough to do the reveal in a couple of weeks.

The other day I was thinking, all these denials about the reveal being in Detroit probably means it will be in Detroit. That reverse psychology thing our kids try to pull on us from time to time.

the good news is we will all know in just a couple weeks.

Ford pulled off the biggest surprise a few years ago with the GT, nobody had any idea on that car. Design and build in a secrete basement , now that's a well kept, die if you tell someone car!

True, but the Corvette strategy has always been US-centric. It has no worldwide dealer network. GM does not sell the same models internationally it sells in the US. It took Porsche many years to build their extensive worldwide network offering the same models in every country.

GM basically pulled out of the EU in 2017 selling off Opel and Vauxhall to Peugeot. Perhaps GM has plans to begin to build an international Corvette presence, but that will be a long, slow process.

It'd odd... the C7's high hood cowl and bumper "fangs" exist specifically to satisfy European pedestrian crash standards as they wanted it to be a "global" car... they sell like 88% of Corvettes domestically and I forget how many in Asia and the ME leaving only a couple percent sold in Europe. I'd prefer they ditch the still Euro crap and tell them to go pound sand given how few cars they sell there. Won't be an issue with the ME as it's easy to make a low "soft" hood with no engine under it.

Volkswagen owns 49.9% of Porsche, so they don't control Porsche.

Totally unlike GM who owns 100% of Chevrolet.

Why Dubai?

For the 2017 MY Corvette, they exported 2,268 to Canada, 108 to Japan, 118 to Mexico, 149 to the Mideast and 582 to Europe.

The USA is far larger a market than Dubai, so I would think that is where they would show off a new generation Corvette......not at a location that buys very few Corvettes.
