Question--why would someone not just buy a Ferrari?

perhaps with regard to interiors etc, but performance, acceleration etc, numbers dont lie, corvettes can indeed hang with high end performance cars.

well at barrett jackson corvette c2 resto mods went on saturday all night long for 200k, 300k, and more. So I dont think corvettes are seen as fast food.

Without question........but has really grown in terms of quality and better materials with the C7 in my opinion. I want performance, but value many traits the Corvette came up short on in the past. It was those “ missing values” that tempted me into my current 911. It’s my bet the C8 will further close the quality side of the equation for me personally.

It ain't very easy to find a safe place for a boat that big, and it takes a large crane to get it out of the water. The small percentage of fun associated with it just didn't cut it. One of the best days of my life was selling it for a huge loss.
I used to be a glutton for punishment because years earlier I duplicated that experience with an airplane. No more.

I drove this 2007 F430 for about two years before I bought my Z06. My reasoning for buying a C8 Vette over another Ferrari is dealer network. I'm in NW Florida and there is only one shop that can work on a Ferrari in my area and he's over an hour away and an independent shop. Any warranty work would require a trip to Orlando or Atlanta. I have two Chevy dealers within 20 minutes. I can also count on a Chevy dealership being available just about anywhere I would travel. Not the same with exotics. If the C8 does not turn out to my liking, I may consider a McLaren or a 458 despite the lack of dealer network.

I have 3 Vettes. My newest is a C7.
I also own a 430.
I had mine in the Shop only when I first bought it to get somethings sorted out that I knew about at purchase.
The 355s and 360s had belts and require replacement every 3-5 years, the 355 required the Engine Out to do so, this is where it can get expensive.
A Major on my 430 is a few Grand. You can do these if you're so inclined but there are some differences compared to changing oil on a C7.
Warmer Months my C7 is my Daily Driver.
But my Favorite to Drive is my 430. Paddle Shifting on a Ferrari is Nothing like on the Vette. The 430 Feels "Raw". Corners are what you're after. Looking to possibly add a 458 possibly this Year. I do love each car for different reasons.
But yes a Porsche would be More Reliable, but then you'd have to look at that ugly VW Bug Front End... I'd rather pay 4K for a Major every few years myself or get a C8
Plus this View is just too hot.

The fact that so many people on here are even CONSIDERING a C8 when they could buy any of the numerous exotics mentioned shows how far Corvette has come...

As you drive the car and get a real feel for it please write a review. How is access getting in and out, How quiet, how smooth? As far as looks and cool factor certainly a 10 plus. How would it be as a fair weather daily driver ? Would you want to do a 250 mile road trip etc? We all know they are very cool, sound fantastic and look better. Kind of like a gorgeous woman. But how is it to go home to her everyday after the honeymoon? Thanks .

Traded my corvette for 458 last week
I traded my 2017 black / black z06/zo7 car just last week on a 2012 Ferrari certified 458 with 5k miles.
My first Ferrari and so far I am very impressed with fit and finish , ride quality , handling , performance , sound , styling off the charts.
I have owned dozens of corvettes and still have my 65 and have every plan of buying the m.e. Been waiting for that car all my adult life it seems. However as long as I can financially I hope to always have a Ferrari as well. The car is amazing and an unfair comparison of course. I also had a 911 turbo s a few years ago. Incredible car but I was never passionate about it like I am for the 458 . My biggest complaint with zo6 was that the power was unusable on the street in its current front engine rears drive format. No traction at all first and most of second gear. The Ferrari just screams and with et of 10.8- 11.2 depending on what you read it’s respectably fast .
the 458 taps some care and a little learning curve just to learn how to drive it whihcnis part of the connection to the car once you get it all down I think.
Op , congrats on your purchase ! Be interesting to see how we feel about our 458s in a year from now.
