Default Looks of C8 / Ferrari or Lambo??

We know the car is mid engined, we know it's new territory for Corvette. I am curious though as to what most of you guys prefer overall style wise.

Speaking in terms of more recent models, Ferrari's tend to be more rounded/ smoothed over with not too many sharp creases, opposite of Lamborghini ( sharp creases and body lines).

I've stated before I'd prefer the car be 100% original and not a mesh of a different looks, but since there are plenty of mid engined cars already out, if they had to lean one way or another, I personally would like to see the C8 be more leaned towards Ferrari looks then a Lamborghini.

What route do you guys prefer it go between the two?

looks have nothing to do with price.

There are are plenty of Ferrari’s that are far from great looking... and a lot that are great looking.

A Lambo looks cool as a dramatic over the top car but seems it would be a PITA to drive daily.

A Koenigsegg is not beautiful IMO. It is functionaly beautiful but not aesthetically beautiful. IMO

Style is not a dictated by price. Materials and fit and finish are.

I am willing to bet if GM straight up copied the lines of a 488 and outfitted the ME C8 with a Twin Turbo it STILL would never come anywhere near the price of a Ferrari.

I was at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee today. This La Ferrari looked pretty good. There were 2 of them. I have heard the C8 may have some styling cues from this.

The Huracan is one of if not the BEST driving cars ever. So to clear up things in that area, and in my opinion YES, style is 100% dictated by price. There’s a reason a Chevy Camaro doesn’t look like a c7, it’s cheaper. But still uses the same(ish) materials. In some cases yes, but in this case I think you’re wrong. You can’t put a huge carbon fiber wing on an aluminum and carbon fiber car for 60k

Not a bad car to copy, 2015-2016 LaFerrari are selling at auctions for $3,5 million and up!

Much prefer lines of the late model Ferrari’s. Have never liked the looks of a Lambo.

Default Design and Style are not price dependent... AT ALL

The reason that a Camaro doesn't "look" like a C7 is that they are two completely different types of automobile. The Jaguar XKE is a timelessly beautiful design--designing overhead had nothing to do with it. The C2 Stingray is a timelessly dramatic design--designing overhead had nothing to do with it. The original Dino Ferrari, the '59 Cadillac, etc.

Design is largely a function of design goals, designer talent, and management discretion.

The only time design significantly impacts cost is if design elements are particularly hard to engineer or produce cost effectively.

So far, what we see emerging in the C8 design seems to have little, if any influence from either Ferrari or Lambo. And that differentiation is a good thing for the brand--so long as GM succeeds in building a beautiful car.

Did you see the 1986 C4 ragtop go for $19k?

That is probably the most damning criticism of the C8 design thus far.

but you prove my point. You are conflating “materials” and style... and let’s hope there is NOT a huge carbon fiber wing!

A great driving car on the track or “occasional” driving sure. The driving experience I am sure is great in a Lambo. But would you could you drive it everyday? My back for one could not take it. Nor could I or would I want a stiff riding strictly performance or “race” oriented machine.

I can, and GM can “ style” a car to look exactly like a Ferrari. Look at the best kit cars. They look like the real deal, but it is the materials and engineering components that make the difference.

Your first comments were were saying that GM could not make the corvette “look” as cool as a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Not equal them in outfitting.

I think it will look pretty darn cool and “ exotic” for an American “supercar”.

Performance-wise, I think they will be covering their as*. The top level c8 will undoubtedly beat them at their own game.

Expensive does not necessarily mean good looking. What about some of those crazy expensive, god awful looking abortions that have the Bugatti name plate. You can buy a new C7 for 60 large and it is one hell of a lot better looking than the current turbo 911 punch buggy.

The front styling looks like what we have seen on C8 mules.

Thanks FVS! But it won't be a celebration; I'll take no pleasure in it. More of an Irish Wake...

I still have hope. Truly. If the reverse is true, we can party like it's 1999. And I will be the first to drink to my Doubting Thomas ways!
