Of course GM’s having a ball
Anyone who thinks it’s just us trying to figure out anything about the coming C8 and GM isn’t feeding some fact and fiction to us, is dreaming. There no way some of the GM crew is not having some good laughs at some of their handiwork that has others taking the bait. If we stopped talking about the upcoming C8, that would take half of the fun out of them building the C8. None of it’s being done with any disrespect. They know we love the car and it’s all good fun to them. But my hunch is, when the C8 officially hits the spotlight, it’s going to different in many ways than many envisioned.

That makes perfect sense to me as well. There's simply no way to get any kind of phone or camera near one of these early production cars unless they allow it. Even when the test drivers park to get food or whatever they have Security watching the cars.

I don’t question what you say but this car is on the doorstep of coming out, it’s long out of the lab. There is more to the car than looks.
I still believe that there is stuff being released that is to throw off other car companies. Look at the C4 when it came out, rated by many top car magazines as the finest handling car in the world. Bet a whole lot of screaming went on in other boardroom of other car companies. Because it caught them flat footed. GM can do it better and make it affordable. My thinking is, the C8 is going to have a whole lot of surprises about what we do or do not know about. And count on that being amusing to many at GM.

I'm pretty sure the interior photos were not intentionally leaked by GM. I've even wondered if they were the pics that Zerv02 took when he saw the interior and waited until now to sell them to CarScoops.

Yep, I think some are giving "us" too much credit. Big corporations have far better things to do than playing games with internet forums.
I don't think the leaks are intentional either. It's impossible to stop leaks in any organization. We can't even keep highly classified intelligence material safe.

2) dmaxx3500 and Savoy2001 are idiots and obviously have never been to a GM facility. GM security is on par with what you would find at Walmart. Everybody at GM has a smartphone and 75% of them have the cameras uncovered and ready to to go.

I think it's safe to say GM is behind the leaks.
I find it hard to believe that all their time testing, camouflaging the car, producing the prototype, nearly a year or so ago, and not a single legitimate leak surfaced of the C8 until suddenly weeks prior to the official launch, photos are being leaked. They are building anticipation, generating buzz (positive or negative), and strengthing their exposure of the C8 to the masses. All these leaks have created mass amounts of buzz throughout the internet, online publishers, youtube, internet forums, Reddit, etc. It's great marketing. Great way to increase your brand awareness and surely translate that audience into actual sales conversions at your local Chevy dealership lol. Sell sell sell, money money money!

Why shouldn't GM capitalize on the "I just HAVE to know something before someone else does" mania that upcoming Corvettes always seems to generate? Free publicity, keeps the buzz going on social media and in the press, and can be quite easily managed by GMs very savvy publicity wonks. We have countless threads either praising or damning a vehicle none of us mere mortals have yet seen, sat in, or driven. Brilliant.

The leaks to date (add if I've missed any):
1. Zerv CAD leaks (I think those were a real leak... why would GM want that info out?)
2. Paint shop showing the front and rear fascias painted red.
3. The carscoops original batch of interior pics (If they had all the ones they released yesterday, why only release a couple and blur out much of what they had?)
4. The rear bumper pic from BGA (One large volume Chevy dealer rep said he'd seen that picture a few months ago on someones phone and it was a test build car at BGA). If someone is snapping pics, why get just the rear bumper and tightly cropped? Why not the whole car or the side scoop.
5. StreetSpeed's really horrible blurry pic of the "whole car" which could be a photo-shop of Chazcron's work.
6. Yesterdays re-release of the Carscoops interior pics but in more detail and more quantity.
Nothing major has been leaked IMO... nothing that would affect the reveal other than to build up more interest and hype. Every car forum and social media site is talking about the rear bumper picture and interior. GM spent $0 marketing dollars for all of this.

Sorry, don't agree with the OP.
Not everyone at GM associated with the C8 is "having a ball". Jobs and careers are hanging on the success of this car. Refundable deposits at dealerships are no guarantee that the C8 will be a hot seller for two years like the C7. No, I don't think the folks at GM are enjoying this yet. They will if the reveal is a big hit and buyers flock to dealerships to put their NON-refundable deposits down on future cars.

Not at all. If you've ever been involved in a new product/model launch then you know the celebrating hasn't begun. Success is measured in sales. Once the sales begin then the celebration begins. Right now, there's optimism and hope, but I doubt anyone is having a ball.

Agree, there are a whole bunch of GM people probably having difficulty sleeping at night. They know they made a bold move, and it could go either way.

I've always wondered, what happens to all the mules after the release and once sales begin? Not just the Vette but in general other models too.
