That shook something loose in my memory. I read about it in a Hagerty magazine maybe a year or so ago. Must be the same one you're talking about.

So sad GM abandoned this architecture but its the same story w GM over an over again. They abandon stuff just as its coming together, ie the Fiero.
didn't know he put it in a car. I remember seeing it on an engine stand a while back.

yup, Ken commissioned putting it together and once they had it running it's now in his personal Zr1

made the amount designed despite lacking the variable cam technology designed to roll out with the my95 lt5 that never was

this one is close as it has the intake and heads but the older gen 4 bolt block as it was available

these castings almost went into a dumpster

I also saw the price of $33,000.00 for the normally aspirated LS7/4V..
Here is what I saw at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale a week ago;
(Where did my photo go? Uploaded it with Manage Attachments.)
Price for the GM LT5 crate engine complete assembly, $17,915.00! It is also in the new COPRO catalog w/o price.

Agree that the LT5 crate package is a great deal for what you get, but keep in mind that you also need the LT5 engine controller, which is about $4k, and a few other items like the oil tank and lines for the dry sump, so you're really looking at like $22-23k-ish. Still a pretty good deal for 750+ crate ponies...

Its 200k to rig and wire controls roughly. I was ignoring the bellhousing, transom plate and drive because you don't need that for a car. And that isn't the dual cal, that's the race version iirc. Been a few years.
